I learned to drive stick in a 1968 Volvo station wagon. Had to have feet on gas, brake, and clutch at the same time. All while at a stop sign, even on a hill! Great episode.

Julie ... Thank You! You did ask Luke how many times he watched "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" on TV as a kid!!! ..LOL ....
That was my favorite movie when I was young ! I can't believe the cars from the movie are represented at this museum! Keep driving the 1957 Corvette! I think this car is completely spot on for representing American Automobile innovation!
    Well done you!

Fab Cars! Y’all should do an Airing Of The Quilt’s! Here in the ol days everyone would put their quilts out to air them after the long winter plus people would hang up new quilts that they made over the winter to show them off. Here in our town we still do it. People compete for best in show and other things. I can just see all the brightly colored handmade quilts all over Mapperton gardens!

In my local town Braidwood, Australia, there is an Airing of the Quilts every November. The quilts are hung from all the buildings on the Main Street.

My boyfriend (now husband) convinced me to buy a stick shift in my first new car.
I had exactly 3 lessons on his car before picking up my car.
I had to drive to work by myself the next day.
We had several cars and trucks that were a standard. My kids learned how to drive a standard too

I'm not a great fan of the car, but this video was well worth watching!

Julie, you cracked me up when you sat down at the end and waved at the vintage cars driving out! That is SO American! And definitely something I might have done, as well! None of the cars I've owned (four) over the past almost 50 years have had automatic transmissions, having learned to drive with a stick shift, like you. Now, it is hard to find a manual transmission without special ordering! Love your videos! Are you going to do another on the Beaulieu Estate grounds and house? The time I was there years ago, they were just about to close for the day! I was devastated!

It's funny hearing the term 'stick shift', which is of course literal. In Australia we call it manual (transmission).

What a fun episode! My husband is into antique cars. We own a 1937 burgundy Pontiac coup hot rod. Here in the US,it’s referred to as a gangster car! I also learned to drive a stick shift in my younger years but prefer an automatic as it is so much easier. There are some amazing cars in that collection you showed us today!

My father had a 1971 MGB, soft top in harvest gold. He bought it new and sold it to a collector in New Jersey about 12 years ago. It was our family’s summer fun car. Going for MG rides around the backroads of central Connecticut is a fond childhood memory! I too drive a manual transmission to this day and my dad let me drive the beloved MG once…two days before the new owner/collector’s “people” were coming to retrieve it. ❤

Thank you, Julie, this was fascinating and fun. Personally, my preference is for automatic, not stick. While living in Norway for year's, most drove stick. I insisted on automatic!
Love the outfit, too. Especially the purple socks👍🇺🇲🇬🇧

Fabulous museum. What an investment. I too had an MG, a 1961 MGA, given me by my astounded parents for successfully completing my 1st year at university (which they obviously doubted I would do). Picked up in London and driven all over Europe and shipped back to the USA. Happy times. Love your Corvette, I remember the 1st ones, as we lived near Detroit in those 50s and everyone was car mad and had the latest ones. Always love your shows, Julie

It seems that the Queen was a very expensive PR person!! What policy did she establish… it has always seemed there was a face for the public DUTY as opposed to serving the people with a concern for others. And it seemed if a problem was ignored it would go away!!’ People complain about Megan Markle but look at Ann And Camella!!! Why aren’t we supporting people and instead we tare people apart… can you address this snd clear things up…

You need a writing course, your spelling is very poor. Also, this isn't the place for your comment. It's a fun visit to a car show. Period.
Julie is NOT going to embroil herself in your and anyone else's arguing about the royal family, and anything else.
