    Your video is awesome!!! I love the fact that it's a sewn tutu and not another "no-sew" tutu tutorial. Thank you :)

    Thank you so much for this easy to follow tutorial! I just purchased my ruffler foot and am wondering what you have the Ruffling Depth on your ruffler set to? It’s that black screw located directly below the ruffle stitch interval setting plate (1, 6, 12, *). The Ruffling Depth ranges from 1, 4, 6 and 8mm options. Thank you so much for your help!

    Is there any way to make it clean without a serger? I’m not a sewing person but bought a machine to do masks. Thanks

    Your tutorial is great! Just wondering, is there any particularly reason you cut tulle into strips of 6 inches rectangles instead of just one piece large rectangle? Thanks!

    • @jamiebourgeois3301
      @jamiebourgeois3301 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Iris Chern Sorry for delay- the reason is that the tulle I was using was only 6 inches wide. This can be done with off the bolt tulle, which would cut out a few steps (go straight to ruffling!)

      +Jamie Bourgeois Thank you so much for your reply :) Your tutorial has been a great start for me! Never occured to me to make use of the contrasting colour thread! And the serger part, it indeed gives a pro finish! Thanks again :)

    Hi, thanks so much for the tutorial. I’m about to have a go for my baby’s first birthday outfit but I’m new to using a ruffle foot and couldn’t see HOW you are attaching each strip together? So, say you’ve got your 100 x 6in strips cut out, how do you get them to form one long ruffled sheet of tulle? Do you first straight stitch them all together, or pin them together before ruffling? I hope this makes sense...!

    muy buen tutorial, gracias por compartir, que tipo de tul se usa?? del grueso o del de velo?

    • @jamiebourgeois3301
      @jamiebourgeois3301 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +SZOAR I hope I am understanding correctly- I used 6 inch wide polyester tulle. You can also use polyester tulle off the bolt.

    This was a great tutorial! It was very detail. I have a question. When you sew the closing of the skirt, does it affect the elastic inside of the casing when stretching?

    • @jamiebourgeois3301
      @jamiebourgeois3301 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tikia, it shouldn't. If you want to make sure the elastic doesn't overstretch then I would suggest giving yourself an extra 1/2 inch or so in length.

    Love your tutorial but your waistband seemed shorter than the rest if the tulle how did you get it all on the waistband? Please help

    • @jamiebourgeois3301
      @jamiebourgeois3301 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kelvina Moore so sorry for the delay! If I am understanding your question, I don't have it perfectly aligned to help with the closure of the waistband. The ends set into each other- this pulls the ends together and no gap remains.

      +Jamie Bourgeois I believe she is saying when you sew it to the satin waistband (in the video 8:29) it shows the tulle is a LOT longer than the satin material.

    • @nancybridges6819
      @nancybridges6819 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nancy Bridges how did you fix that issue?

    • @jamiebourgeois3301
      @jamiebourgeois3301 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nancy Bridges not sure I'm fully understanding the question? Do you have an approx time in the video that might demonstrate what you are referring to? Thanks!

      +Jamie Bourgeois its the timing around when you had just added the hem tspe to the cut satin. you held the gathered tulle up and said you were going to stitch it down to the waistband. the tulle looks much longer than the waistband. did you just fold the edges over on the sides of the tulle to get it to be the same length of the waistband?

      +Mariyah Hall We have found the non-sewn tutus don't hold up, which is why the sewn version is a great version for something that will last much longer!

    I think I might have messed up on my ruffle, though I think it turned out cute. Should I be creating two ruffles or are your instructing stating 2nd ruffle, meaning on the second pass. I actually thought I had to create another ruffle. Can you respond to this please. Its pretty cute but would rather only create one ruffle if I can.

    • @jamiebourgeois3301
      @jamiebourgeois3301 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there- you can certainly do just one “pass” of ruffling but you would need less tulle and it would not be as full.

      @@jamiebourgeois3301 what do you mean by a second pass. New to sewing. I understand the first pass but does the second pass mean that you double it up? like two ruffle strips? So confused. Wish you could have shown all the steps while doing the video. Thank you!

    I love your tutorials. by the way, use paracetamol to clean your iron. heat the iron and then rub paracetamol on it, the dirt will come out easily.

    Hi, I’d like to know how you keep the tulle from wrinkling? Or how do you eliminate the static?

    Hi!
    How many strips(6inch) do I need for a 25 inch waist? And how many inch I have to do the waistband ?
    Do I have to do all the strips in one peace together and that peace on the waistband ?

    • @jamiebourgeois3301
      @jamiebourgeois3301 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      YVonne so sorry for the delayed response. The number of strips will depend on if you do one or two passes through the ruffle foot. I found that one 6 inch strip will become 1 inch ruffled. So for every 10 inches of ruffled tulle I need 60 strips. Here comes the alegbra- you need 25 inches of ruffled tulle, that's 25 six inch strips.
      HOWEVER, this leaves a fairly flimsy looking tulle. You could make several layers of tulle with ruffling it just once. This is why I do 2 passes through the ruffle foot, which means I need much more tulle. Doing two passes through the ruffle foot gives a fuller looking skirt.
      For 25 inches, you would need about 125 strips. This may vary slightly given your machine, but this is based on a stitch setting of 3mm and the ruffler set at 1 ruffle per stitch.
