no no no man you have to leave the thinner lock nut up against the plastic housing you putting it over by the other one doesn't lock it from screwing itself back in. also there should be 3-5mm of play that way you don't yeet yourself into a whole lot of trouble
what he did was right. you are incorrect. leaving the locking nut at the other end doesn't serve its purpose as a 'locking nut'. youre supposed to tighten them together so stop them from moving..
