I actually think this game is so creative, and as a person who played the demo this looks really fun
7:48 I think it rewarding starting the wave earlier can be good if the early wave is done while there's already another wave.
i hecking love metaprogression
I assume you love idle games then?
@@Retromationhell yea cookie clicker my beloved
This actually looks so good, definitely adding it straight to the wishlist at the very least
Very satisfying game to watch, I'd love to see more!
I would love to see more episodes of this game
i wouldn't mind seeing more of this!
If Tetris was tower defence
You sound like Red.
I don't generally mind meta progression, but it depends on the game. I played the demo for this after watching the video and I don't think the meta-progress is needed here. It would be nicer if the talent tree was shuffled around and you work through it each run.
6:59 every day, someone somewhere sounds like john mulaney for a split second
On the second thought - i think having a td roguelike where whole gimmick is around "priority system" - can be fun, i think? Or at least interesting. You know, when installed priorities sometimes even more important than the tower itself.
In my first run one of the starter decks literally had 4 L pieces and 4 reverse L pieces lol.
I think it would be neat if the meta upgrades were harder to get but more short term based so that way they could get completely reset after a run like little boosts that you get throughout by leveling.
I played this game it is great! :)
I just got a new headset right before watching this and the sound of the crackling fire made me think they were broken. Otherwise, great video.
And I got this game because of you. Love the videos you have a great way of showing games. Subbed!
Thanks for this video. Bought the game and enjoying it. 😊
I really want to see you play more, please :)
Retro plays drone tower defense :p
Would love to see more of this!
More plz
Would love to see more!
Just a note that the talent tree is run based, so it's not a true meta progression tree.
Werewolf...
Where wolf?
There wolf.
you should get a discount code for your viewers living in 3rd world countries :P

I don't like permanent upgrades. The real roguelike like Slay The Spire don't have those upgrades that feel like cheating
I'm with you
its just baffeling that this game has meta progression like whats the point of it even
For most the constant sense of progression keeps them returning to play/advance more. There are some unfortunate souls like retromation who don't get dopamine from it, we are just wired diferent.
Its there in almost every game because it works on the majority.
In addition to what @leandroTRA said, meta progression can be a really satisfying way for a complex game to avoid overwhelming a new player. In this example, we see them gating active abilities behind significant playtime -- forcing a new player to get fully comfortable with the basic mazing and turret placement before they have to start thinking about realtime action too much.
Seems like a solid design decision to me, and that's before considering that a lot of people like unlocking shit anyway.
Tbh it's one of the more intriguing parts of this game for me. Mixing a cpl of my favorite genres. I totally get how some would rather not have rogue elements though.
