    This is a fantastic video. Good teaching is hard to find and I've only really understood this topic after seeing it simplified and clarified so well here. Keep up the good work. You are picking up the slack left by uni lecturers all over the world!

    I'm doing my pg thesis using Plaxis 2d software, and the topic is regarding the analysis of slopes with building loads and seismic load. So Can you please tell me how to plot failure envelope for a slope with building over it? That is, I clearly want the steps to draw the envelope within a soil slope with respect to buildings dimensions (which is been constructed over the slope).

    7:00 We are assuming that the soil induced stresses, overburden, footing placement etc. Only increase σ(Vertical)?

      I don't understand how this could be a conservative assumption based on the properties of soil.
