Penguin is by far the best dressed villian of all time. Top hats, tailored 3 peice suits, minocular etc. How he never made the list is crazy. Black mask, two face, riddler, kingpin, scar face all deserved honourable mentions.
Immediately recognise a fine Hannibal Lecter costume on Preston, it actually suits him rather well! I must admit, I've always had a bit of a fascination with his bold Prince of Wales suits and paisley ties :)
Inconceivable as it may seem Bela Lugosi was my babysitter. I was born in LA and he was our next door neighbor. Imagine how strange the conversation went when while watching Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein, my Dad says “Hey there’s your Babysitter!”
Dracula will always be a classic! I also agree with Joker. What about The Riddler? He's seen briefly at the end of the video but the question marks and Green suits are definitely stylish. He even wore purple trousers in some variations which is pretty bold. Hope you all enjoy your weekend.
@@gentlemansgazette Fantastic! Looking forward to it Preston. Wonderful job on this channel as always! It's helped me step up my style. It gets extremely hot out here in AZ so I've added Linens and Polos among other garments. Warm regards to you all.

@12:52 it is interesting that the actor who played Red Grant, Robert Shaw, went on to play Captain Quint, who was obsessed with killing the Shark in Jaws.
Man, I LOVED that red suit with the yellow vest that Joaquin Phoenix's Joker wore in the 2019 movie. It compliments the green hair so well and makes it look somehow more natural of a hair color to me.
In Batman 1989 you can also see the joker in some form of distorted morning dress, in the scene with the pen. He's wearing a velvet tailcoat with silk faced lapels, black and white checked trousers, a white waistcoat, a huge buttonhole and a black top hat.
I must say that Preston’s red paisley tie, with that large knot went with the rest of his outfit extremely well. Bravo! Bella Lugosi as a well dressed villain was a great choice, though I am surprised that you didn’t reach into the gangster films of the 1930s for one of your choices.
From the evening wear from the Pinguin to the split-vertically suits of Two-face, Batman's villains are always dressed to impress, but none can outshine the clown Prince of crime
What an awesome take and intriguing video this one was, I was always hoping for something more off the beaten track like this! And it was even more fitting that Preston was the one who did it, the narration is spot-on for the theme of this video!
Honestly, I'd love to see a critique of the clothing for the First Doctor (William Hartnell 1963-1966) and the Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee 1970-1974) from Doctor Who!
Yay, this was great fun! I do very much enjoy a Preston video -- always so engaging! And who doesn't love a good villain?! I suggest including Amahl Farouk from the TV show Legion in any future villain style round-ups you might put together. I'd be tempted to say that you dropped the ball not including him here, but I know that Legion is pretty obscure as shows go and that not a comparatively large number of people will have seen it. Amahl Farouk's suits and accessories are INCREDIBLE though, and he is just a great and fascinating character and antagonist to boot. The show as a whole has a ridiculous amount of classically-inspired menswear goodness in it. The suits of characters Oliver Bird (Jemaine Clement) and Cary Loudermilk (Bill Irwin) spring to mind especially. I'm pretty sure you could easily put together a whole video on 'The Style of Legion' should you wish, but I understand there may not be the appetite for it. It's the Marvel Cinematic / Television Universe's best-kept secret!
The Original Wall St. Gordon Gecko. Banker collar shirt, collar tie pin, suspenders, Brook's Brothers ..I was in the city during that time, my father was a executive with IBM on Madison ave. It was a great time to be young and in the city. The Brooks Brothers on Madison was so classic. You went up in the oak walled elevators and when the door opened there was a Brooks brothers suited men to ask you if you need help..It was like a personal shopper...You have refreshments tea coffee right there on the floor. The only other place that I have seen lately do that is Ralph Laurens men's store.
Lon Cheney Jr. As the Wolfman. People too easily forget how much of a wolfish dandy he was as a plain human. Well dressed down to the Chekhov's Gun that was his Silver Wolf's Head Cane. Also the attire of the OG Invisible Man. When he did wear clothes, he wore very formal attire. Perhaps as a contrast to his stealthy skills and to further accentuate his flamboyant behavior.
James Coburn's character in Stanley Donen's wonderful Charade is a favorite. Hitchcock's films are full of well dressed villains. Instead of running down the list, I'll just say that James Mason in North by Northwest is a standout.
I Cosplay Nicholson’s Joker, I had the suits made from very similar fabrics he had in the movie, my outfits are 98% accurate to his tailored suits as mine are tailored as well
The gangsters in the movie "mobsters ". Bosses and upcomers...I actually learned and to examples from watching mafia movies, because I love the Italian design. But just the doublebreasted jackets. Also there's an old movie "The youngest Godfather ". Every suit that the actor betrayed Joe banano (hope I spelled that right). There are lots of examples that I adopted with hats and coats to match..and my best and favorite tie are paisley. In the movies I also they make me so jealous because I can't find those ties, so I get close to the ideal look.
I think you should talk about the fashion of Gustavo Fring in Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul! Especially in Better Call Saul since it´s quite recent :) I´d love it
One outfit that paid homage to its silly comic book origins but adapted to the big screen was Mark Strongs Dr. Sivana . He wore his mad scientist costume below a purple suit and covered it in a leather trench coat.
“There are definite do’s and don’ts good buddy of wearing a bold striped shirt. A bold striped shirt calls for darker, discreetly patterned suits and ties.”
Hannibal is, of course, unavoidable. However, I think his wardrobe in the Silence of the Lambs sequel, Hannibal, shows a more refined look than the character in the show.
Have to admit that Anthony Perkins as Hannibal in the film wore his prison jumpsuit well. He’s snobbishly dignified. Plus, his snide observation about Clarice’s shoes and bag will always linger.
@@gentlemansgazette the "air tie" certainly has its place and he pulls it off (I've tried, it's not for me). His beige outfit was what I was thinking of specifically, as well as the letter he sent on bespoke paper coated in bespoke scent. Dripping with elegance 🙂
Thanks to Gentleman's Gazette , l'm starting to like suits and more vintage styled of clothes , l used to dislike suits cause l thought that the looked ''Too Profesional'' or ''Too Cocky'' , but now l start to view them in a more positive light .

The are some very interesting and beautiful suit designs for the villains in Vincenzo, My Name, and Itaewon Class, to name a few of the k-drams that are readily available in North America.
I want to see a style breakdown of Ghostbusters. William Atherton was im”peck”ably dressed, as was Harold Ramis. Rick Moranis pulled a bit from classic menswear. The sequel also had a few fine moments in the courtroom and Bill Murrays date with Sigorney Weaver. The rest of the cast pulled off some decent sport coats when out of their flightsuits.
I cannot agree more that Mads Mikkelsen here has an amazing suit. I checked the original suits and ties he wore, and they are a little weird outside of the camera. I have to take notice to your tie as well, I love this one. Could you tell where you got this tie? it's amazing. (I love the shoes too)
In this video Preston was devilishly nice. I propose an analysis of the clothing of the main characters of "Goodfellas". The scene where a teenage Henry Hill shows his mom his new suit is memorable, as are the maternal words "You look like a gangster."

I'm watching Hannibal right now. Someone said the peak lapels on his suit jackets are meant to be like the Devil's horns... He also pops the pullover's collar so it looks even more devilish.
