How to Make Satti de Zamboanga II Beef BBQ with Spicy Gravy II Filipino Food

  • This dish is a regional dish from Zamboanga in Mindanao, Southern part of Philippines. Mindanao is where Christians and Muslim Filipinos live alongside each other. This dish simplifies the unique tie between Christians and Muslim residents.
    Satti is usually eaten as a breakfast meal (of course you can eat this anytime of the day too!), it’s normally Halal so that the Muslim costumers can eat too and is loved by the locals and tourists too. I don’t blame them as I think this is delicious!

    300g beef/chicken
    1 teaspoon salt
    ½ teaspoon pepper
    2 garlic cloves
    1 packet of annato (achuete) powder (optional)
    1 large onion
    1 birds eye chilli (or more if you want it hotter) this is mild
    4 tomatoes
    3 thumb size ginger
    1 litre water
    1 chicken stock
    1 teaspoon curry powder
    150g sugar
    1 ½ tablespoon salt or 2 teaspoon if not using shrimp paste
    pepper
    Cooking oil
    Thickening
    1 packet of annatto powder (Achuete) or seeds (optional)
    3 tablespoon cornflour + 100ml cold water for thickening
    Boiled rice to serve with this dish.

    Satti is originally from sulu adapted from malaysia..the tausug brought it to zamboanga
