Even in South Africa, some people make a variation with chicken :) Perhaps it might look strange to some people and they might ask 'Why on earth are people in India make a recipe from South Africa?' Well history might be plausible. Back in the day the Dutch traveled from (South) America to South Africa, India and Sri Lanka to Indonesia, so sometimes you find influences from the local kitchen in other countries :) Surinam which was a Dutch colony has a lot of Indian influences. Roti from Surinam is a good example ;)

That maybe true but these people are not from India, they are South African. South Africa has a large Indian population

Hi Derick, thank you for watching the video. I use a special mix masala but you can use your favourite masala if you like. I think you will enjoy it if you use spices that you are used to until you can brave enough. Good luck and God bless.

@@isharasindiandelightsandca6447 thank you for being so kind as to reply. My sister buys spices at the Muslim Market in Gatesville so I suppose they may have their own Masala. All the same thank you for your reply. Happy cooking from Paarl in The Boland.

Not too bad, but way to much oil and many South African traditional steps missing. Here are some tips.
    1. Sear your Chicken, remove it.
    2. Sear and brown your onions and carrots.
    3. Place Chicken pieces back into the pot.
    3. Add all Veggies in layers in order of cooking time.
    4. Add stock or bone broth dissolved in water to add to flavor and to keep the moisture content/ viscosity of the stew balanced.
    5. Let it simmer slowly for 3 to 5 hours without stirring. (convection currents will do the stirring naturally and your meat has little chance of falling apart).
    6. Add Cauliflower or any fast cooking veggies less then an hour before serving.
In Namibia and South Africa we often add a glass of Red or White Wine with the stock depending on the recipe. Really adds to flavor.
