Art Tips for Non-Artists: Blending Colors with Acrylic Paints

- Acrylic Painting Technique #3: How to Blend Colors. A key painting concept for many landscape scenes, backgrounds and more.
You will need: A canvas + flat paintbrush + white acrylic paint + a few other colors. (A glass of wine doesn’t hurt, either.)
How to Blend Acrylic Paints:
Start with a layer of white paint. Add sweeping strokes of color. Paint side to side. No stopping in the middle! Add more color. Keep a buffer of white paint.
More white = softer transitions!
Keep experimenting with colors and buffer zones. In no time, you’ll be a pro at blending acrylic paint colors.

Nature bees Hi no, you wanna blend it in so preferably you need the paint to be wet. Make sure you put on a fairly thick layer to, acrylic can dry up fairly quick so you want steady and deliberate strokes but also fairly speedy if you wanna get the perfect blend.

@@pho_is_not_interesting Sure! There are a lot of different ways that people like to blend their paints, but what I do is: 1. Mix a lot of the paint colors that you're planning to blend; 2. Lay a flat base color of what you want (if you're using an opaque medium like gouache or a acrylic, your base color should be a medium tone; if you're using a transparent medium like watercolor, your base color should be your lightest tone); 3. Once your base color is dry, place the color that you want to use to shade your object and then, quickly place your original color on top and just sort of do back-and-forth blending motion (you should blend colors that are close in tone and hue, and then work up to get those drastic changes).
It's sort of hard to describe lol, but I definitely recommend watching @imawonder 's speedpaints. She describes her process on top of showing the process of creating her really beautiful paintings!

Um love please do not do it in this method it is not right 😅 I do art as well and I am not a pro yet but from experience blending is really not hard like say you paint two strips of colour side by side and the paint in both strips is still wet take the brush use a flat one and just merge it as long as the colours work wth each other it will look amazing. And I am just giving advise so please don't hate me for it.😊

@@sendmemoneythanks LOL acrylics are meant to dry fast. That's why when the video said to add white as the base coat isn't going to work well, because it will dry before you can even out your colours. I suggest taking the two colours you want to blend prepared, put one colour and then add the other wherever u want then slowly go in the middle of the two colours to blend (actually there are many other methods, but I'm too lazy to type out also I'm not professional have a good day)
