Kenji is sooo cute! I watched all of your videos since my husband and I will be getting a white swiss shepherd puppy soon! Question: How did you make sure the puppy socialization was safe for Kenji before he was done with all the vaccinations (about 2 weeks after the 3rd Parvo shot)? Thanks!
In Denmark most sellers/kennels vaccinate the puppies before they’re sold/adopted or the new owners take care of it in the first couple of weeks. Thus most dogs are vaccinated, and we also asked the vet before getting kenji. She said that we’re better off getting our puppy socialized and take the little risk there is of them getting sick, than having a non-socialized puppy because you were too careful. The socialization period from 8-16 weeks is crucial and the risk is low in Denmark. We advice you to ask the vet in your country in case the risk might be different there.
We tried to control his environments with a crate, because puppies don’t like to litter where they eat and sleep. We were home like 24/7 the first months. So we could bring him out the green if he showed any signs of discomfort(signs of urge to pee/potty) + we took him out in the garden every 2-3 hours or so. Night we took him out every 3-4 hours or when he was whining. :-) and then little by little, the more success with no peeing in the house, the more we freed up space for him :-) but every night he was in the crate until 1-2 months has passed. But he understand understood the concept after 3 days. Remember to praise your puppy when he pees/potty outside :-) good luck with your new friend :D
Great videos. We just picked up our Swiss white Shepherd. Interesting to see how kenji's first weeks were
Was that sadness and sorrow from Naruto on the violin damnn
Hey there, I'm about to pick up my white Swiss puppy next week! What kind of food did you end up getting when Kenji was a pup?
Fantastic
