Thanks for the reply and help. I have an 06 750li and I figured out the faulty chassis error, but now I'm getting the dreadded "Faulty VIN" error. I've looked around and couldn't find much. I tried to manually enter it and no luck. I saw someone did a reinstall of software and was successful, but I haven't tried that yet.

@Steve ... You need to have your MMI coded with The auxiliary option to show up . On a Side note the dealer won't do that ... You will have to find a coder in your Area .
If your MMI screen is a FaceLift MMI then you should be able to have the Aux freature coded to your car . As for the dealer , they will not code it to your car . You would have to do it yourself or find a coder in your area that can help you .
So it has two steps 1. Have car coded by NCX Expert to show Aux in MMI 2. Install cable to Ask Unit I have 2006 750Li. Let me know if I am wrong on these two understanding 1. Face lift MMI means have it coded by NCX expert 2. Face lift ask unit means adding a aux cable Do I have to buy a new ask unit for 2006 750 Li. Your video is the best.....
in some cases you have to buy a newer ask out of 07 , but some 06 Ask units are capable . Try coding the Aux feature & you will find out . when You Code the Aux feature to your MMI try clicking it & use the volume knob , it it works your good , If it don't , you need a newer Ask unit .

Did you even watch the Video or read the other comments ??? you have to have your car coded to add the Aux on your screen . You do not have to pull your MMI out , You only have to remove your Ask Unit . The adapter comes with the Aux cord .

yes this should work for your car since you already have a FaceLift Ask unit & MMI . But you will still need your car coded so the Aux feature shows up on your screen so you can select it .
By just plugging the cord in does not make the Aux feature show up on your MMI screen .You need to have the AUX feature coded / programmed to your screen .
I did watch the video and comments. What I meant was if I could do your work vice versa or not: Have the car coded to have the AUX function first, then take out the ASK unit and plug the AUX wire? Your work is the other way around. By the word MMI, I meant the ASK unit. Sorry for the mistyping.

Sorry but I would need more details & I would have to scan your car for errors . But trying Buying an IVM Module & replacing it & RE-SYNC your car , That is usually 1 of the problems with no crank issue

Just tried this solution to my 06 750i. According to specs my 750 is a facelift unit. Purchased correct cable, modifed pins and it did not work. I took it to BMW to have the codes updated (did not see Aux when iPhone was connected) and they said it will not work. Dont think i missed anything but something did not work. The mechanic assured me that have the facelift unit. Help
Sorry didn't think of mentioning it . The AT TUNER is in the driver side C pillar & yes it is a strait swap & will work as long as you have upgraded everything else mentioned .

Are the pins #s identified on the back of the Ask Unit the same as on the aux. plug? 2, 7 and 8. On some of the 06-08, when I LOOK DOWN into the connector on the back of the ASK UNIT, I see number like 17 - 22 / 23-28 left side & 29 - 34 / 35 - 40 identifying the pins. DOES PINS 2 = 30, 7 = 35, 8 = 36 ??? HELP!!!

Amazon has this AUX adapter but with the normal aux plug to go directly into phone. Will this eliminate having to setup the pins. Is is plug n play once the feature is coded?
I know i need to have an ASK UNIT and AT TUNER if i have an early (April 06) E66. But because the ASK Unit looks the same and from what i have read it is the same, i should just be able to upgrade the ASK unit and AT Tuner to a newer firmware release with SP-Daten 53.3 or newer? That small piece comes with the Aux cable , if it doesn't you can purchase it from the dealer for
$5.00 to $10.00 dollars ...

you need to retrofit the facelift unit . the Ask unit you have is not capable .

I noticed you didn’t show or mention the tuner swap. Is it just straightforward locating then swap?

the only pins you have to change are on the AUX plug you purchase

I looked for that cable on amazon with that part number u gave out. It says its for a BMW 5 series. Does it matter? I have a 05 745, will it still work?
Amazon has this AUX adapter but with the normal aux plug to go directly into phone. Will this eliminate having to setup the pins. Is is plug n play once the feature is coded?
you will have to make sure the Pins are in the right places .

I know i need to have an ASK UNIT and AT TUNER if i have an early (April 06) E66. But because the ASK Unit looks the same and from what i have read it is the same, i should just be able to upgrade the ASK unit and AT Tuner to a newer firmware release with SP-Daten 53.3 or newer? Would this work instead of buying a newer ASK Unit and AT Tuner you think?
You can try , I have heard a couple people did it , but most who tried it didn't work .
