I think there should have been one more play in the game. The kid got the first down with two ticks remaining and the ref signaling to stop the clock. Would it have made a difference? probably not, but miracles in sports can and do happen.
1 second on a clock stopping first down. If the SCHSL had an ounce of respect there would have been an unsportsmanlike conduct on SF sideline and another play.
There were no timeouts left and the clock starts immediately when the ball is placed so 1 second is not enough time to get everyone set and snap the ball. So all they could do was to snap it and commit a false start which causes a clock runoff and the game is over anyway.
