I’m new also to racing but did have the same problem with my motor I run 604 IMCA mod and my dad came down who’s raced for 20+ years changed the float on the carb just a few tweaks and it ran so good.
Thanks for the insight! We will keep that in mind, but we did confirm later after our first race that our fuel system had a lot of issues from the cell to the motor and have (potentially) fixed that. Hopefully that was all, but if our fixes didn’t work we will definitely keep this in mind.
if its bogging when you put the hammer down then make sure the motor is level. we race the #67 and we had that problem at the start of the season, motor wasnt level and so it was flooding the back and starving the front
Sounds like for one your timing is off I can hear it popping like rice crispy's I'd fix that first then you might not have a big enough fuel pump and it over heating I'd check for a sticky thermostat or you got the wrong size fan
Thanks for the suggestions. We may need to take another look at timing but we did have it set before the track so it theoretically should be good since nothing else changed from the time we had it set to the time we made it to the track.
Black Horse sadly closed after our last race there in 2022. It was a fun track that we all loved to race on in the fwd cars and the size of the track fit the Neon so well.
Yeah we drove by it the other day and saw what they had done. The walls and track are there also the buildings still stand, but the rest is covered in pecan trees. Sad sight to see for such a fun track.
Hey, you have left a series of negative comments on the videos, and that is perfectly fine. It is good to get a mix of people enjoying and not enjoying the content, so we can improve. I am sorry that you feel this way. We are very blessed to have what we have and have always worked hard to achieve where we are in motorsport. While we are more blessed than a lot of people in the world, I don't think we have "too much" money. We have worked very hard to afford the cars we have acquired. In terms of skill and brains, everyday in life we learn something new. Here on the channel we like to be as open as we can about what we do wrong, where we can improve, and also our good times. Like, our 4 wins in the Neon at Black Horse vs our first races ever for each driver where we definitely didn't know a lot. It is a process. People like Mr. Roger Penske didn't wake up and just know everything about business and racing. He worked towards it over many years. There were ups and downs and the same goes for us. We are just in the developing stages of it all.
I’m not a mechanic and don’t know crap about race cars other than watching Hunt the Front. But if you are holding wide open and the car will not go shouldn’t you make a Carburetor adjustment?
We took a look at the carb after hot laps but everything seemed fine. We are pretty good in a straight line test. And that makes sense because we are fine in the straight line but under load in the turns is our main issue with fuel pressure.

You definitely dont have the right gear in the rear end
Better check the fuel pump rod . See that it’s a flat end rod and not a ball tip bronze rod . The ball tip is for a 604.

they expanded the pecan orchard and tore it down
