- Phew! Have finally finished this! So, this video is basically the Boleyns calling out Mary for marrying below her station (marrying for love? preposterous!)

What’s the history behind this, what’s going on
Alex Anekwe Okay, will try to make this as brief as possible...
Mary Boleyn was the older sister of Anne Boleyn, she went to France with Anne and was possibly the mistress of the king of France. She was recalled (possibly because of this scandal) in 1519 (so three years before her sister).
She married William Carey in 1520 and at some point between 1520 and 1522 she became Henry’s mistress, the length of their relationship is unknown - we only know about it because Henry asked the Pope for a dispensation to marry Anne (when asking for the annulment from Aragon) because he’d slept with her sister!
Her husband died in 1528, so Mary was a widow with two young children. Luckily her family helped her out (especially Anne).
She was quite close to her sister and became a lady after Anne became Queen.
In 1534 Mary married a soldier below her station (gasp!) for love (double gasp!) in secret. The relationship was discovered a year later when Mary was pregnant. Anne (and Henry) were livid as she had to ask for royal consent before marrying so she was banished and disowned by the Boleyn’s. Ironically this may have saved her life as she wasn’t caught up with any of the court intrigues like her sister, brother and later her sister-in-law.
So this video is meant to represent Anne being angry with Mary for this, being backed up by George and Jane (who she was probably closer to than Mary). There is also an undercurrent of envy since Mary married a (relatively) poor man for love and Anne was in a volatile and ultimately deadly relationship with the King.
Mary was the only Boleyn sibling not beheaded (George and Anne in 1536, Jane along with Kathryn Howard in 1542). She instead died of natural causes in 1543 (she was in her early 40s).
Not much is known about her after 1535 (not even what happened to her children with Stafford), just that she died in 1543 and that her children from her first marriage would go onto to be prominent courtiers in Elizabeth’s court (their cousin!)

Mayhaps i'm interpreting this wrong. When I watched this the first time, what I assumed was happening, was Anne ragging on Mary for having a better turnout that her.
Sneakane You were right, that’s what I was trying to imply - that it was really jealousy since Mary married a man for love (and had a son who MIGHT be Henry’s - emphasis on MIGHT)
Wow, things wohld turn really diffrent had Henry legitimated Mary's son. Imgine that!
What I find irony. Is in the end Mary turned out okay in the end. She got inherentences and was able to settle with the man she loved and her children and live on in a well and full filled life then her siblings and sister in law.
In the end. Mary won.
Mary feels already bad about what happen and about everything. But, that doesn't give Anne, Jane and George to torture her like that.
Well irl she was banished and never saw any of her family ever again (except for her children, she did inherit her father’s stuff when he died though... since she was his only living child by that point)
Mary Boleyn's life was no fairytale, but you got to wonder if she suffered from survivor's guilt. After all, she could have easily been in her sister Anne's place. Her exile from court was the only thing that saved her.
I think she likely did, along with relief that her children wouldn't be motherless (and after her father's death she wasn't in *quite* as bad a financial situation since she was his only heir).
It is a shame she never lived to see her niece on the throne (especially since her daughter became a very close lady-in-waiting and confidant to Elizabeth)
I don't blame them for being mad. Marrying below your station was considered bad back then. Mary basically got an out for straying away & escaping from doing what was expected from her, meanwhile the others got their heads chopped off for trying to follow their norms. This song & brilliant animatic really portrayed that. This animatic is awesome! Keep it up!

Even sadder than that, Anne was in love with Henry Percy, but was prevented from marrying him because Cardinal Wosely wanted her to marry someone else. Wosely's plans fell through, and then he later died on the way to his trial for treason after Anne and her family brought about his downfall.
You can also throw in Katherine Howard and Thomas culpepper because they were in the family as well and were both beheaded
I politely disagree. This is because Katherine never really knew the Boleyn’s
or their lives. She would be a little girl while this was happening. As for Thomas, he would be a second cousin to the Boleyn’s and didn’t really never know them either. It’s be a bit awakened with them in since they never really knows what happened. I enjoy the idea however and apologize if I caused any offence.
George boleyn didn't want to get married because rumors said that he was gay. I just love George as a femboy
Yes... that may have influenced my design a wee bit (subconsciously though). Obviously we don't know for certain if he was gay/bi or not though since lots of the record about him was destroyed and it could just be rumour. He was married for over ten years and yet had no children though...(and there's no record of Jane miscarrying). We don't even have any surviving portraits of him (even Jane Boleyn has a possible sketch that is her).

From my understanding of it, there is no actual evidence to prove that he was gay, and it was something that was made up later in history, and then media outlets like “The Other Boleyn girl” stated it as fact.
However there is a poem that I think survives which goes on about how he loved his women.
But in Tudor court anything went as long as one was quiet about it, so he could’ve slept with men as well as women.
It’s a possibility, but idk how accurate 🤷🏻♀️
I think that poem was also slanderous. We just really don't know. If he was I highly doubt he would have had an affair with Mark Smeaton though - A) Mark Smeaton was infatuated with Anne (in a pining way) and B) He was a commoner and George would have seen Mark as beneath him

What are the Queenspirations for all of the Boleyn's barring Anne?
Hmm... I can't really say I had any specific person in mind for any of them. I did base Jane Boleyn's outfit on the live action Jasmine's though and her colour and hairstyle are loosely based on Glimmer from She-Ra (not intentionally, more in a 'I like that look').
I based George on Anne herself (since they were close siblings, although his outfit is also reminiscent of Howard's now that I look at it lol). He's tall and lanky mainly because I like drawing guys like that. His hairstyle is not really from anything specific though.
With Mary, I just really wanted a character with a side plait (since none of the queens have that hairstyle and I love side plaits! That's also why she's ginger as well). Her outfit is also based on Anne's but the spots are meant to contrast with the others' stripes/crosses. She has a turquoise colour to show that she's close to her sister, but not the same (it also looks nice with the hair too).

The Queen Mother would be a good choice, she famously resented Edward and Wallis because she believed the stress of being King prematurely killed George VI (possible, the smoking didn't help though). Stanley Baldwin was the PM during the crisis, not Chamberlain (Chamberlain became PM after George VI became King so maybe he could linger in the background?)

Well the choker is to show he was beheaded (like Anne). I thought it would be cool to have a guy in a skirt and a crop top since that’s not that common :)
