Nice improvements by JBL but I own the 5.1 surround and I paid only $299.00 for it back in 2019 and am keeping it possibly forever with Chromecast built in its just a plus and that 10" wireless sub is just thumping.
I had big problems with the JB 700 connecting to a TCL 65 inch tv… had to use the optical connection ports to get it to go on when you turn on the TV !
I recently brought the bar 1000 and I’m a bit disappointed with how loud it is at max volume especially for music, It seems to me that JBL has volume limited the bar as max volume is only 32. My old TCL ray danz (paid $300 aud) which had 570 watts and a smaller subwoofer was louder for music. For movies and television shows I love the bar 1000 and I love not having to have the speakers attached to power. Overall it’s a great bar and I think 95% of people will be happy with it but I expected more for the price and specs.
Another great review Josh, Sonos just announced their new era speakers the 100 which will replace the Sonos one’s and the 300, unfortunately it ain’t the kind of upgrade we all wanted, which was upward firing speakers.

Thank you for posting this video - it is helpful for trying to decide on a purchase. Right now, I'm swaying between the JBL Bar 500 and the Samsung HW-800B. 90% TV use (cable box, streaming services, etc), 10% room music use (BT connection). The sub on the JBL is worlds better, but the Dolby Atmos sounded better on the Samsung. When I tested each at a Big Box store, I didn't know about the voice enhance feature on the JBL. Will that close the soundstage gap comparison for these two? Also, there are not many reviews on this unit on Amazon, etc. Can you share if they are having any inheritent problems with this unit? Thanks much.

Should we use the default position for placement or change the direction of the subwoofer driver then do the placement. What are your thoughts on this?
Please help. I'm using JBL Bar Pro 8 with my Sony Bravia A9G OLED. Soundbar connected to TV via HDMI eArc. PROBLEM: JBL soundbar will go into Standby Mode after 10 minutes even while TV is playing. I lose sound in the middle of streaming and it is frustrating. Please help.

On times for me the bass is a bit lacky (it miss the low frequency on non bass boost songs) but overall for 1 week full and complete use i can rate it 8/10 for me and for the money i paid (450$) i couldn't get a better bar. For 1500$ you can no problem get a better but JBL is perfect for the price itself.

I have 3 different 2022+ models of soundbars and a current gen Yamaha receiver with Polk speakers for Atmos and 8k60 / 4k 120Hz VRR ALLM use for connected PC gaming. I prefer the JBL over the other soundbars for music use. The other soundbars are LG S95QR, LG's last gen flagship, and Vizio M51ax-j6. The JBL sounds much better when tweaked using the JBL app but I wish the equalizer had more than 7 frequency bands to adjust. The nice thing about the Vizio is it offers many presets for media type and also high level frequency adjustments using the included remote control where changes are seen by vertical LED dots on the front side of the soundbar, which is very helpful for tuning sound between watching youtube content, gaming, listening to music or watching movies with a connected PC. The LG was about the cost of the JBL 1300 and sounds great for everything with the subwoofer connected but lacks any bass with sub disconnected and making audio changes is more confusing than any of the other devices. I purchased the LG as I have 2 LG TVs with eARC and wanted the ability to use LG Sound Mode Share but it doesn't offer much and I keep that feature disabled.
If I don't care about surround sound and I am interested only about music performance, would there be a difference between BAR 500 and BAR 800 with rear speakers permanently attached? Thank you.

I'm not sure at this stage. I just bought the Bar 500 so will be reviewing that soon. It depends on how much demand there is for that soundbar as to whether it's worth me buying it and making a video. My initial thought is that the Q990B will be discounted atm whereas you'll likely be paying full price for the 1000 so they'll probably be close in price. One of the factors is whether you like the flexibility of the rear speakers or not. The big selling point for the 1300 is the standalone bluetooth speakers and it's a more powerful bar. So deciding if it's worth if for you comes down to those extra features. I hope that helps.
My room that I want to do surround sound is two stories high. Can this work in a room like that? Do the updirectional speakers need a normal ceiling height between the 9-11 feet? My ceiling height is probably 22-25 feet.
I tested the 1300 in a store this weekend, and I was surprised at the performance of the upward-firing speakers, even with the high ceiling. So I believe that it would work in your scenario as well.
I saw you showing a hdmi eARC adapter on one of your older videos a few days ago but I can't find that video again. I need a hdmi eARC adapter because my TV doesn't passthrough any form of DTS audio when I watch a blu ray via my PANASONIC UB820 and I'm using a POLK Audio React soundbar. Could you please suggest a hdmi adapter that I can get eARC to my soundbar. I tried connecting the audio out from my PANASONIC UB830 directly to my soundbar but the blu ray player doesn't recognise that I have it connected to my soundbar and it just outputs audio to my TV. When I watch a movie or something v show with DTS audio on the UB820 my TV converts it to pcm 2.0 on the eARC out. I've spent hours changing sound out settings on my TV and blu ray player to see if I can get DTS passthrough via HDMI eARC on my TV but no matter what setting I used it always output PCM 2.0 from the TV.
The 300 is smaller and able to deliver a better-balanced sound profile. It can get louder with fewer compression artifacts, and it supports more audio formats via its HDMI ARC port. However, the 500's surround performance is better and offers room correction and EQ presets.
You are missing the jbl bar 5 multibeam which i consider between the 300 and 500. The 300 is better for dialog and clarity, but it's immersion is lacking due to the bar 5 having 4 passive radiators it can almost sound like it has a smaller sub. It's not that old, has atmos decoding, and is readily available, under 200 on woot right now.

jbl is starting to remind me of apple. jbl 700 is a 500 but they disconnected the speakers and for that charges a lot more. this is such an apple thing.
Stay away from JBL products unless you want it to die for no reason after 2 years. I've bought earbuds, the battery stopped holding charge until after the warranty expired. Same with my Soundbar. It just quit working one day, the LED display never turned on, even when going though all the troubleshooting. Their products are just cheaply made and are not designed to last. I'm switching to Bose. More expensive, but they have a serious reputation to protect to fall under planned obsolescence. Do NOT buy JBL.

I agree with you. I bought the same system in 2022 and I thoroughly enjoy it. The 10" sub definitely hits hard, glad I bought it on sale as well.
Hello. The 800 has no dts codec. Only atmos. Is that a problem when I watch movies on ultra blu ray or netflix

Detachable surround speakers were Great ! This soundbar has atmos but unfortunately can't give the feel of 5.1 surround sound.

JBL Bar 2.0 and JBL Bar 2.0 MK2 are exact same specs, buy the JBL Bar 2.0. no reason for MK2 only if you like how it looks, that's all it changed.

Yes they are. They’ve got an internal battery and wirelessly connect back to the bar.
