My uncle Blondie Calderon was Ray Price's band leader for many years before he passed away in 2000. I worked as a waiter for a short time in his restaurant in Del Rio, Texas (Memo's Restaurant). Radney Foster who is this kid's mentor used to come in to the restaurant occasionally when Radney was still pretty young, and I was their waiter a few times. This song brings back a lot of memories of those days when I was growing up. I'm not a huge fan of country music but I do like a lot of the old classic country and this kid is really good at that. Way to represent my hometown.

Cool My wife and I also are Tribute Artist ! And we are performers that pay homage the Elvis era of music And Classic Country Traditional Country artist ! We are also Song writers ! It's a good feeling! To bring so many fans of these great artist ! Memories in past times when music was from the heart ! From true and known experiences ! Love lived and love lost ! They or some else they knew ! Heart and soul that is where Traditional Country music or Classic Oldies but Goodies music comes from ! Some say both me and my wife have old souls ! Maybe that's true ! Twin of his Momas was her Mother Inlaw from the Stone side of Glens relatives ! His Mom was a stone last maiden name ! From McCaskel And Magnolia Ark. My wife grew up knowing many of the greats ! Bonnie Owens And Buck and Merle Haggard! Her MoMA worked on nanny of the older recordings for WSM. When Chet Atkins was managing the WSM . Nashville recording Studios her mom was a sessions singer ! One of the best they had ! And A back up vocalist with a high voice vocal on many Ray Price recordings , Jim Reeves ,Brenda Lees recordings Carol Lee Sings ! And Her mom was back up Vocalist for Dottie west in the younger days 50s Through the Late 60s quite a great career ! She grew up with Wanda Jackson and Genie Seeley , Gene Shepard and Dottie west ! Tommy Colin's and Billy walker!

Great to hear a younger generation singing the real country music of my youth

It is great real traditional Country can't ever beat it ! It's real life and some thing that has happened or happening at the time! In the artist life Or some one they know or knew ! You can feel the pain and the Happy in the Storys ! Vocals are unique and cool be it femail or mail ! And the long gevity has proven it's self ! You can remember back when you first heard these songs and these artist ! Truly greatness it's a born talent ! Not schooled ! Truly honest real birth right ! Many older Artist have recently made a return to the big stages ! To save traditional Country music ! It's been a truly brave and great return ! Still haven't lost their coolness in song and vocals writing ! They sound as though they never left the big stages ! Honestly as great as before ! Refreshed their music catalogs with their great vocals and song writings ! Some have their children joining in on their family royalty performances ! I hope this kids has a concert in Utah or in Texas before he blows up and I cant afford to see him play. Its refreshing to see a young man with good manners an an old soul, kinda like Elvis. This generation desperatly needs this type of Texas heart.

Attempting to cover an iconic song and singer is simply impossible. Good intentions, but this is no comparison to Ray's amazing version. That's my one opinion. And in saying this, at least he's keeping it real country, my hat's off to him for that!!

Voice is nice, but such a young man doesn't need to put so much emphasis on drinking. This is not a good example for young or old. Being drunk isn't necessarily an image for country music anymore.

These guys are in bars 5 nights a week performing, with people buying them drink after drink. And yes, it is still a staple of real country music.
But hey, there’s always Florida-Georgia Line or Lady A if you want to believe Country artists don’t drink (hint: even they do, their publicists just have those type of bands lie about it).
