Great book. Basically the Hunger Games at a time when they weren't the massive spectacle they are in the original movies. This takes place 64-65 years earlier, and is basically a Snow origin story.
Yeah. And it's always interesting to speculate on just how far in the future all of this is set. Honestly I used to think it'd have to be, like, the next century. But with current events it'd be more realistic to place BoSaS around maybe 2060.

I think they cast it well, the story does help explain why snow is the way he is, even why his dynamic with Katniss is the way it is, but without spoilers, that’s about all I can say.
theres a real energy and crunchyness to the shots / camera angles they use, looks like a genuinely interesting to watch movie beyond just another YA novel adaption
@@asanaquarian1302 I’d say the first one does a good job expanding from the book by showcasing perspectives other than Katniss’s (Snow for instance), giving more context to events in the film.
I will say as someone who has read all of the books A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is my second favorite behind Catching Fire. This trailer looks really good. It was already on my radar but I think this has shot up to my second most anticipated movie behind Dune part 2.
This trailer came out of nowhere, I had no clue about it. But wow am I impressed. Great cast. writing. performances. Doesn't give too much away. Fantastic trailer. Can't wait to see the movie.
I had no clue until a few days ago that they would be making this movie so I especially didn’t know they were far enough along to be releasing a trailer and this makes me VERY excited. Looks much more well done than the fantastic beast movies, looks darker and grittier as it should be I’m super pumped now.
The shots they did were really well done for showing the young snow, the actor really gets it done with some of his facial expressions- reminding me of Donald’s. Now if you think about Snow crowning Katniss post win, it puts more backstory into a different district 12 girl that also stood out. One thing that’s sad is we know how things end up, and clearly we will all like snow post this movie 😅
@@ulricaandrae4381 Which won't happen though since there are no other novels. I somehow doubt the author will keep on writing for this specific franchise.
This is the official 10th year of the Hunger Games, after the war, during reconstruction. We are getting a look at how it becomes the entertainment industry titan it becomes by the 74th Hunger Games, which is fascinating.
I think it would be crazy if snow gained such an attachment to the main character here as a mentor that her dying in the games is what drove him to be so dark in the future.
I know this is based on the book, but i kinda wish we instead got a movie about the revolution prior to all the hunger games. Then it can end with the fall of the rebellion, bombing of District 13, and the first hunger games. Kinda like revenge of the sith
Mags (introduced in Catching fire the 2nd Hunger Games movie) was the victor for the 11th hunger games which took place the year after this story is told which is the 10th hunger games.
I think I already placed y'alls district. I played minecraft during the day and been like "I really should be outside putting seeds in the ground, this is a night game. She was channel flipping on the TV watching the Olympics and the news.
I wasn't impressed with the early release photos but this trailer made me excited, namely Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage, and Jason Schwartzman raising the bar but now I'm interested in seeing what they do. It looks so messed up and twisted, that's what I'm here for. I didn't read the OG series, it wasn't really my thing by the time the movies became really popular but I loved the movie series. I read this book though and it was pretty good.
here might be an interesting fun fact: a lot of these industrial, factory, warehouse scenes and the stuff from what seems to be district 12 were shot in Germany near my hometown because where I live in the west of Germany the coal mining industry was really really big and we still have all of these old buildings and huge ass empty factories, factory grounds, warehouses and former coal mines here. They were filming here last summer and looking for a lot of extras from the area and I actually ended up getting casted but in the end wasn't able to make it because I was having some of my exams from university right on the days where I was supposed to come on set for filming.. it was too late to cancel my exams as well😢😪 and of course you always had to stay on set from very early in the morning to very late at night (at least you had to plan for it that way) but well, who knows 😂maybe in the end it was for the better because I have very long, blonde hair and they said you had to maybe expect getting your hair cut or even shaved off soooo yeah. Still sad I wasn't a part of it though.
Oh please regarding the Peeta Gale thing, Peeta is way better than Gale any day. Who cares if he’s named like a bread? Everything he did for Katniss is miles above anything Gale ever did. (Damn, even after years since my Hunger Games phase, this Peeta Gale thing still triggers me huh?) Even my little sister who recently rewatched the movie series thought the same. Though they shouldn’t have added a love triangle in the first place IMO. About the prequel, I’m quite excited! This is definitely gonna bring back the nostalgia back when I was obsessed with the series.
Hey guys! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! You know what’s in my mind? Lucy Gray is just a character with the Head Game Maker, which means she is part of the show being orchestrated, and Snow is being manipulated to become the successor of the Game Maker. Why? The snake was being fed with the Head Master and it seems to have a connection with Lucy Gray, that is also why of all the Tribune, she’s the only one never had been bitten. ( It was being played for snow to fall in love with the Lucy gray) The friend of Snow was being set up to be killed because he was the only one opposed the Hunger Games calling all them Monsters. The character of snow is just psychologically and mentally unstable to be sane a good guy, rather he has trait as a weak man that shouldn’t had been in power. That’s just my personal analogy on this movie. Aside from that, I loved the hunger games sequel. ❤ Snow was being manipulated by the Head Game Master and Snow would tried to manipulate the game for Lucy Gray to be saved.😊
Interesting costume designs. The clothing of the districts looks from old time periods to US, like early 1900s? (Excuse my ignorance I’m not great with time periods). And Panem and the Hunger Games is set in an unspecified time in the future. Just something I noticed
Peeta isn’t just named after a bread. And besides, bread is comfort and nourishment of the body and soul. Peeta MeeLARK. Peeta has the characteristics reminiscent of the bird the Lark’s symbolism in literature. Gale Hawthorne. Like a Nightingale. Also very reminiscent of the characteristics of the bird’s symbolism.
