Very good content here. I remember a friend of mine stepped on a landmine in Colombia and he now has a below the knee amputation. I’m assuming it was one of the old Soviet style mines that have 50-75g of TNT. Great video! Thanks for sharing

When our man said "300 grams of TNT" I winced. That is a big charge.

Right? Just how large are these personnel that this mine is targeting?

      All weapons are "horrifying".

FYI: The word "GYAKORLÓ" means "PRACTICE" in Hungarian.
Also it's true that the missing metal band compromises the longevity of the mine, but it's missing so it is harder to detect via metal detectors.

Mines terrified me more in OIF than anything. "BONE SHRAPNEL" imagine your face arms, gut, and lungs being perforated by shards of what were once the bones in your feet, ankles, and lower leg. The shredded meat and shattered bone injuries are terrifying and damage bone, vasculature, and tissue up the legs... disgusting weapons....

Ya, that is one thing they never freaking put in the movies. In 2011, my 1st sgt came with a qrf to come and save our sorry butts in Afghanistan. It was his first time out as our 1st sgt. The strykers with the qrf pulled up and started throwing down hate down range, and the ramp came down, and I see the 1st sgt, a good buddy of mine acting as his radioman, and then a third man behind both of them. The first step 1st sgt takes, puts him right on a pressure plate. He disappeared immediately, my buddy was cut in half and blown meters and meters away and the third guy got blown back into the stryker absolutely covered in all sorts of shrapnel, including tons of bone shards from two different people. You could see that he was wearing his eye pro because the rest of his face was just a giant mismatch of scars except for where his eye pro was. I would also end up with some of a friend's bone shards in me after a particularly unpleasant explosion. I got to keep all of my parts though and he didn't, so I consider myself pretty lucky all considering.

@3-2bravo49 with that. At the time.. In my mind if i was going to be killed I prayed if was a MASSIVE blast or a high body RPG/SPG hit sp my CNS was absolutely obliterated before anything could possible register. There is mercy in several dozen thousand PSI blast waves and large quantities of tightly packed fragments nailing you at 32,000FPS.
I had seen death from bleed outs and sucking wounds. Sorry no hemothorax or dry land drowning for me. I'd frag myself before enduring that totally cogent.

@@Anti-Fake-ul9oenot at all. Most weapons kill the intended target. Mines kill anybody stumbling into the area 40 years later.

    Very nice find yo!
Don't see many toe poppers any more.
Learning mine emplacement and removal in Knox, was one of my favorite classes. Back when it was still Home of the Cavalry & Armor.

dont you guys make some kind of a layout plan ? .... one day this conflict will be over...
need to think about that time after when all those nasty mines need to be cleared...

According to the rules of war yes, you should make maps of your minefields, labeling exactly how many of each type of mine were used.
Problems occur when this is inaccurate, and for example 10 years later you come by and actually find 1 extra mine because then you no longer know if you're still missing any
