If you like this, and haven't yet heard The Opiates by Anywhen, trust me you are in for the musical treat of your life. David Sylvian called The Opiates, which was released in 2001, "a lost masterpiece", he re-released it on his own label in 2007.
[Five-years-ago me, you have no idea ...] Listening today, thinking of my late husband who bought me the cd because I loved this song so much. Life seems an endless pattern of burial and resurrection. May we never stop feeling the gut-punch of beautiful songs.
@@bluegreenglue6565 I lost my husband -- a drummer -- almost a year ago this month. I've loved Japan's Tin Drum since it came out almost, and my husband got into Porcupine Tree last year before he passed (but I missed the connection until too late), and the fact we didn't put it all together, particularly all of the music Steve and Mick Karn did, breaks my heart regularly, especially as Japan et al is the rabbit hole my head decided to take me down this year. Lovely music for me, but also plenty of gut punches. But it keeps him in my head and heart daily. I continue our tradition of late nights of listening to music.
Wow, great song. Makes me wanna shout into the void of TH-cam how good it made me feel so that maybe one day someone will read my comment and discover how much I like it!

tHOMAS FEINER'S voice is truly magic here.
Such a high level of artistry
Lars' work on the double bass is exquisite ...
"Mountain deep, ocean high..." very nice. My husband recommended I listen to this because I'm an old-school Japan fan. It's lovely.

Beautiful music and images. Steve reminds me of Rutger Hauer in this, bless them both.
This is a gorgeously desolate video. The voices and instruments come together to create a powerful atmosphere. Bravo.
I love how the bass often sounds like the creak of a wooden ship ... brilliant!
brillant song . the album is like a vessel you turn to when life gets rough , remarkable
Beautiful song! Steve's image commands awe. Powerful, somber, beautiful.
About as close to perfection as you can get. I was lucky enough to see Exit North play live in Tokyo last night. Stunning work!!

BESTED BONES
[Verse 1]
Tomorrow's ghost upon the brow
Another day upon the back
What could have been, what will become
Mountain deep, ocean high
[Chorus]
Bested bones, bested bones
Long gone victories
[Interlude]
[Verse 2]
Another year upon the back
Bygone ghosts upon the shoulders
What could have been, what will become
The bested bones, the vested hopes
[Bridge]
Mountain deep
Uncover me
[Interlude]
[Outro]
Unbury me
You sheltering clay

Soul searching and moving!! Love the B/W and surprised no link with Anton Corbijn
I thought it more Bela Tarr than Anton Corbijn… ❤️❤️

Tha walking man not singing is Steve Jansen?
Yes sir. The singer is Thomas Feiner. And Steve Jansen the thoughtful looking man walking, not wearing a cap.
Thanks!🙏

More Brian ferry than Bryan ferry
Could be a wonderful song, but I don't like the voice. How great would that have been if David Sylvian was the singer.
Beautiful.
Masterpiece.
