I think the explanation is that Kanami and the whole band are exceptionally good at conveying genuine emotion through their music, something that is at least as important as technical skill. @@dicodec I read an interview ages ago on Reddit where Saiki said she imitates or pretends she’s Miku for the light, soft vocal moments. For some reason, knowing that made my whole day!😄💪🏻🤘🏻
IMHO Saiki is one of the best vocalists for a very long time. Her voice contorl and vibratos are great, and she is very powerful when she need to be. In Daydreaming she is soft and low. If I remember it correctly she spans close to 3 octaves in this song. From A2 to G5 on the piano. I love her singing and with Miku on backing who does is a good singer as well, they make the Band-Maid vocal sound to stand out from the rest.
This is one of Kanami's solos that screams of emotion along with Mirage, Anemone, and Awkward. Alan tearing up during that solo is the same when I first listened to it.
Honestly I hadn't been paying that much attention to BAND-MAID until a month or so ago, but now not a day passes without a daily dose of Kanami. Her guitar solos grab your heart and tear it apart, but for some reason make you feel much more wholesome. Perhaps you can feel her pure soul through her guitar? I just don't know why.
Great song. The last verse; "I want to daydream, don’t let it disappear We cannot go back, so don’t go Stay next to me tonight Hold on, feel my soul" No wonder Alan is tearing up :-)
Kanami-san’s expertly crafted solo exquisitely captures the heat-breaking agony of longing for a lost love. The rest of the song is perfect, too. One of BAND-MAID’s crowning achievements.
One thing that I love about Band-Maid is when you watch the videos on the fan page, it seems like you could be friends with any of them. They are just that geniune
Alan, I can so bloody well relate to your reaction. This song totally hits the mark for me too. And I've caught myself several times shedding a tear or two for no apparent reason. This song is and remains for now my undisputed number 1 of the ladies, where from my point of view simply every detail is just right and contributes perfectly to the mood of the song. From the really beautiful vocals, the drumming and bass, to the brilliant guitar playing, which also reminds me a lot of U2, and then the solo, which feels like an emotional outburst in musical form... Kanami apparently feels the same way about this masterpiece, because she has already named 'Daydreaming' as her favourite song a few times. 🤘🏻 【 'Our rock never dies ever. Forever!' - Band-Maid 】🕊️
Truly a musical masterpiece, there's just nothing that Band Maid can't do, such a versatile group of artists creating their own genre, they have no rivals.
My favorite thing about Kanami as a guitarist is that I 100% believe she could go off WAY harder than she ever does, but she doesn't because it wouldn't serve the song and it's not the type of music they play. She gives just enough to be tasteful, then pulls back and lets everyone else shine.
I too like that Kanami dipped into Edge's bag of tricks, but more I like that it's a one-off, because she felt it fit this song. She has influences, but she's so much her own artist.
@@GaryHolloway-810 In complete honesty, I judged him by his name when I was young, and it still sticks in the back of my mind. "The Edge? That's a dumb name." Beyond just a guitar solo, that is probably among the most moving musical pieces I’ve ever heard. Something about the way it starts with that screech absolutely blows up the emotional buildup of the song till that point. Can’t say it’s my fav BM song as there are many others that I feel are better overall but based on just the solo, this is handsdown Kanami’s best work so far in my books. Definitely her most emotional one too.
I love the contrast between such a pretty melodic verse and chorus then the dissonant, powerful guitar solo, which itself resolves into a pretty bridge.
Great reaction, guys. I just mentioned this on the B-M reddit yesterday that there are 2 guitar solos that have legitimately given me chills. The first was Alex Lifeson's first solo on the Exit, Stage Left version of La Villa Strangiatto. The second is Kanami's solo on this song. Every. Time.

Best reaction and with other Men as well because we love these girls and wish them much success...I play Rock and Metal myself as a guy...these girls are extra-ordinary.
@3:14 the u2 reference is so spot on. mincho-zilla's guitar tone and approach of the notes nod at the edge. take a close listen at the gorilla overlord's drumming and you'll notice her patterns [at the latter half of the verse towards pre-chorus] are a shade of larry mullen, too.
Wow, thanks for pointing that out. I was always impressed how Akane blends in this very martial drumming into an emotional ballad and makes it work beautifully, but yeah it's very reminiscent of Larry Mullen's drumming, I think especially on "Sunday Bloody Sunday."
Great ballad song from them but for me, Anemone is their absolute top tier ballad song. Well, Daydreaming used to be until Anemone sent it flying off the top. XD
@@dicodec There's an acoustic version of Anemone performed right after the acoustic Puzzle; just Kanami and Saiki. It's more personal and emotional but not very far from the album version like Puzzle. Check out World Domination track 12.
i think when the person singing is so pasinoate and really feels the emotions they are singing, then there is something magical that happnes and through the medium of th voice the emotion itself is recorded, therefore we subconsciously feel it and the body reacts in kind
"I have no idea to this day what those two Japanese ladies were singing about. Truth is...I don't wanna know. Some things are best left unsaid. I like to think they were singing about something so beautiful it can't be expressed in words...and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell ya, those voices soared...higher and farther than anybody in a grey place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful pigeon (Po!) flapped into our drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away. And for the briefest of moments...every last Master and Princess felt free"... Even more tearful when you read these lyrics written by Miku: Daydreaming Daydreaming, don’t wake me up There's nothing I can do with a hoarse voice Stay next to me tonight Hold on, feel my soul As we swayed under the moonlight Our shadows blended together Clumsiness intertwined I hope tonight does not end This may be wrong Though I thought it was over I still want to believe I feel more alive in this moment Day Dreaming, dreaming about you Day Dreaming, dreaming about you So, I'm daydreaming, don’t wake me up There's nothing I can do with a hoarse voice Stay next to me tonight, Don’t go I want to daydream, don’t let it disappear We cannot go back, so don’t go Stay next to me tonight Hold on, feel my soul Feeling the distance of this breath Somehow I love you so much Our shadows start to move And dissolves in the early hours This may be wrong Though I thought it was over I still want to believe I feel more alive in this moment Daydreaming, dreaming of you Daydreaming, dreaming of you Daydreaming, dreaming of you Daydreaming, dreaming of you So, I'm daydreaming, do not wake up There's nothing I can do with a hoarse voice Stay next to me tonight Do not go I want to daydream, don’t let it disappear We cannot go back, so don’t go Stay next to me tonight Hold on, feel my soul

There is a very equally endeared 'Live' version and if you find it you will feel it even closer to your heart...it is magnificent!
Great we are on the same page on that. I love all the nicknames as well 😂
Wow, thanks for pointing that out.
XD
Oh man, we gotta hear Anemone then.
@@dicodec There's an acoustic version of Anemone performed right after the acoustic Puzzle; just Kanami and Saiki. It's more personal and emotional but not very far from the album version like Puzzle. Check out World Domination track 12.
The song is beautiful. I liked it. Thank you, friends, for your reaction.
I thought you might like this one. Thank you!
@@dicodec You have studied my musical tastes well. It's very nice.
i think when the person singing is so pasinoate and really feels the emotions they are singing, then there is something magical that happnes and through the medium of th voice the emotion itself is recorded, therefore we subconsciously feel it and the body reacts in kind
Totally agreed ❤
The most amazing supergroup on the planet
They are amazing ❤
That solo always makes me cry 🖤
So emotional 🥲
The whole beginning of the song was a buildup to that climactic solo from Kanami. Easily one of my top 5 Band Maid songs too.
I feel it. Gotta put it up there. It's just too good.
Masterpiece ballad from Band-Maid!
Indeed it is 🥲
"I have no idea to this day what those two Japanese ladies were singing about.
Morethan Freebird
Totally feel you Phil!
This band can do anything. And they are single-handedly keeping Rock alive as it withers away.
They really can, they just pop out banger after banger. 🤘
Emotional track: Correct reaction! Gets me every time. Brilliant.
🥲
Great reaction guys 🤧
"Daydreaming" is my second favorite BAND-MAID song. The number 1 being "Blooming" which you have already reacted to
I sincerely think that Alan will not be ready for "G'OLD-EN-GUY" by Maximum the hormone 😁
Both absolute bangers. I think any top song list with them would be a good one haha. We are ready for that one my friend!
The first time I heard this song I thought "they out did U2 before U2 became a parody of themselves" it has that arena filling grandness but reaches into ones heart and makes you feel it is telling your story, expressing your emotion. This band is as Miku said,. A miracle.
Always in my top 5 band-maid songs even though order changes all the time. Thanks!
I feel you. Might have to throw it up there myself. 🤘
They just have an ability to add really cool things, but subtle enough so they don't overwhelm the song......until there's a face-melting guitar solo.
So true.
wow! Cant believe you guys hadnt heard this one. Classic song and one of Kaname's most iconic solos. Hope youve heard Wonderland - Live, or have tissues ready for that one too. haha
Yeah no one mentions "Wonderland" much. Good shout RWS.👍
Not sure how it slipped by us probably the same way our Wonderland reaction slipped by you lol. It's right here.

@@dicodec well crap! lol
Песня красивая. Мне понравилась. Спасибо, друзья, за реакцию.
Kanami is great. Very emotional guitar work, and solo. Solo is tear inducing.
There is just something special about her it's hard to describe. Amazing guitarist for sure.
Always a pleasure to watch you guys awesome wonderful song and it's OK to tear up this way you know the song is doing its job be well
We appreciate that Monty. So true haha
Kanami solo it's..................the best
So good!
if you liked that - you will LOVE the song " about us" by band maid - it's my favorite
We will definitely check that one out.
@@dicodec I thought you guys already did....?
no i don't see " about us" in the listing .
Masterpiece.
Indeed it is.
when you look in the book of compositions under rock ballad you find this
and yes.. edge shines all through this
Even more tearful when you read these lyrics written by Miku:
Daydreaming
Daydreaming, don’t wake me up
There's nothing I can do with a hoarse voice
Stay next to me tonight
Hold on, feel my soul
As we swayed under the moonlight
Our shadows blended together
Clumsiness intertwined
I hope tonight does not end
This may be wrong
Though I thought it was over
I still want to believe
I feel more alive in this moment
Day Dreaming, dreaming about you
Day Dreaming, dreaming about you
So, I'm daydreaming, don’t wake me up
There's nothing I can do with a hoarse voice
Stay next to me tonight, Don’t go
I want to daydream, don’t let it disappear
We cannot go back, so don’t go
Stay next to me tonight
Hold on, feel my soul
Feeling the distance of this breath
Somehow I love you so much
Our shadows start to move
And dissolves in the early hours
This may be wrong
Though I thought it was over
I still want to believe
I feel more alive in this moment
Daydreaming, dreaming of you
Daydreaming, dreaming of you
Daydreaming, dreaming of you
Daydreaming, dreaming of you
So, I'm daydreaming, do not wake up
There's nothing I can do with a hoarse voice
Stay next to me tonight
Do not go
I want to daydream, don’t let it disappear
We cannot go back, so don’t go
Stay next to me tonight
Hold on, feel my soul
Dude- I have watched dozens and dozens of Band-Maid reactions and have never seen a guy cry. But you know what? I did the same thing and it's cool- because it's a powerful song. Kudos to you for not editing that out. What's scarier is that they are even better live- check this song out performed by them LIVE.
Alan is an emotional dude who loves music. He isn't afraid to show that side of him. Kudos to you as well. Most definitely, we've seen their last two live concert and they were great!
kanami is my six string samurai
She's honed her skills as sharp as a razors edge :)
A six string samurai.......that's awesome!
.......for me.....every single member of this band is artisanal one of the best u can find in rock or metal music today.....the quality....the feelings.....the heart.........in german we say .........pures Herzblut in jeder Note........
Couldn't agree more
It's amazing how they manage to take the listener on an emotional roller coaster, no matter what language he speaks or understands.
I don't understand a word of the lyrics, but I can emotionally connect. Saiki's deeper and softer voice gives me goosebumps. The melodies and music give me a lump in my throat and Kanami's solo opens the floodgates.... 😢Every single time I listen to this song....
How many times watching you keep tearing up😂idk why makes me giggle a lil bit..BNM JBI WD even Conqurer album and singles tears me up like someone leaving me for good 😂😂now came the UW makes me wanna s*it myself🤯😂but JBI is my all time fav (my first love)oh darn ..i always late for the streaming party
@Dicodec Alan this is my favorite Band Maid song. It always hits me right in the feels everytime i hear it. The combination of Saiki and Miku's singing, Kanami's phrasing and the atmosphere of the music is so powerful. I also appreciate your comment about The Edge. 100% agree it does have a similar feel
Thanks awesome patron! Can’t believe you guys have not done this yet. Quite possibly my favorite Band Maid song.
……………………Akane!!
It definitely slipped through our radar but so glad we did it now though.
@@dicodec it was worth the wait 😢
Indeed it was
Eric‘s „...your opinion... but YOU‘RE WRONG!“ actually made me lol 😂
Love you both 💕😂
Haha thanks! We love you too 🤘❤
I dunno about you, Alan, but I still get a tear or 3 welling up every.single.time I hear that solo - and live? Fuggeataboudit.
Then Mincho tips it out, fixes it, and puts it back in.
Daydreaming, also my favorite BAND-MAID song.
Thanks
Oh awesome! Thanks for watching
I feel you on that. This song always gets up in my feels. Especially at the solo. So short, but hits hard, then has that beautiful transition. Glad you guys reacted to this one
It really is such a great and beautiful song. Thanks so much for watching. 🤘
Finally! This remains 1 of my top favorite songs of theirs, even with all the killer stuff they've put out since.
Alan, pass me a tissue. I've probly listened to this and live version 100x and heard it IRL 4x and I still get goosebumps & shed a tear here and there, every time.
Torally feel you man. This song is too good!
Here are your tissues 🧻
I’m totally into Metalcore but this is one of favorite Band Maid songs and hands down my favorite Kanami solo.
I can get behind that
Thank you for your comments about the Edge's guitar style!! I love US on their guitar sound but never thought of the similarity with Kanami's sound. Now I am going to listen some of U2's early songs which the sound stands out more IMO. God I love band-maid anyway.
The solo is great but the foreshadowing in the intro and the buildup to the solo are critical to its impact also. Great song writing.
So true ❤
this amazing song is an instant mood, and how you are at that time, catches you
John Entwistle played bass, piano, trumpet and French horn. Bassists are often multi-talented musicians (unlike me).
Quite an honest reaction fellas. Really good to watch someone be honest. Music is supposed to move you.
They have so many great songs. It’s been a year and you’re still getting some of their older stuff that’s great and haven’t heard yet. Also give Alan a 🤗🤗 for me next time you see him.
Yeah it's dope that they have so much material to go over. Can't wait to hear more. I'll be sure to give him a big hug for you.
This song is the perfect blend of melancholy and hopefulness! It was also one of the songs that kept me from completely losing my shit when the world shut down. Easily in my top 5 Band-Maid songs.
Such a great song ❤
For me this song is top 3 of my favorite Band-Maid songs.
I feel you. Totally understandable.
if u want to react of world domination, then u will love ANEMONE. daydreaming, about us and anemone is in my top 3 bandmaid's melancholy song rn.
We are ready for more Band-Maid! 🕊❤
*BAND-MAID* Deeper and Deeper I go, down this Pigeon Hole 🐦 I go (Po!); where it stops I hope to never know?
Love it 🤣
I have the same allergic reaction to this song that you do, Alan. Every time I hear it, my eyes start watering too!
🤘😭🤘
...the melancholic undertones are so good...and then you look up the lyrics and its even better than you expected...
Indeed 🤘❤
The imagery is amazing. This emotional song was written in the memory of the victims and families of the major earthquake in Tohoku, Japan.
Ah I see, what a wonderful tribute to them. ❤
