Sam Ryder is such an amazing artist. He paved the way to a bright future for the UK. When we (The Netherlands) came in 9th in Eurovision 2013 with Anouk's song Birds, it changed our outlook on Eurovision. Like the UK, we too experienced a "dark age'; we did not even qualify for the grand final for over a decade. After Anouk's performance, we started taking Eurovision more seriously, and we came in 2nd the next year with The Common Linnets (Calm after the Storm) and in 2019 we actually won with Duncan Laurence's Arcade. So don't worry, it can be done!
Absolutely! I'm still waiting for Ireland to have its "Anouk moment" so that we stop sending in uncompetitive cheese, but in the meantime, I'm just delighted for our neighbours, the UK. This guy is a real inspiration. Such a talent, and such a gent!

It's a different contest since the juries returned. Even if some geopolitical advantages remain for some countries, the right song and performance can win it for anyone, I reckon.

What he said regarding Marius Bear really hits home: I felt so bad for him when they announced he'd gotten zero points from the public and his face visibly dropped in disappointment and hurt, but at the same time he tried not to show it too much. I wanted to give him a hug! I actually voted for Switzerland during the semi-final, but didn't have enough votes to give to all the artists I loved at the final - what a shame! Anyway, Sam Ryder - well done! He probably single-handedly changed the attitude of most Brits towards Eurovision now! Same, I gave Switzerland the majority of my votes in the first semi-final, I really like the song. But couldn't spare any in the finals and even if I had, I doubt it would have been enough for points. He didn't deserve zero, I'm so glad the juries could see the beauty.

I happened to see Sam Ryder singing on Tic Toc through UTUBE and likesd who I saw as a striving young singer. When I found he s been competing for his snag position as a top singer,I commented why waste your time on TIc Toc to gain fame reach out and go solo.He was sola for 25 years then jumped in with his own crew and studio. Apparently Sam wasn t what America wanted until a change of the times. Did he just luck out or was this just England s time to step up and choose Sam to get re ignition since 1997? It looks like it was the sign of the times like it was for LuLu or Lesley Gore of English descent who made a movie then became famous with her top pop songs in the USA. She married Maurice Gibb of The Bee Gees. That helped her nudge into fame and fortune ..

Many would have said it was impossible to succeed with a song about space, but the idea really made me think about seeing things (and all our troubles) from a distance. And it's not only the voice, but also the high production value of it all..
Sweet, charming and gentle we're certainly not haha, but having lived in quite a few European countries, I always found myself missing people from home. Generally a bit more outgoing, friendly and a lot more characterful than people I met living elsewhere in Europe (Germany, Switzerland and Cyprus).

I havent watched Eurovision for many years and only watched it this year because the song for Slovenia was on when I channel surfed and my sons partner is from Slovenia! I actually enjoyed it and kept watching out of childhood nostalgia. I watched the rest because of the situation in Ukraine and to show a bit of solidarity. Then I heard Sam Ryders song and saw the promo video and he is such a positive uplifting guy I really hoped he would do well...for once we chose a song and performer that was worthy. For too long we chose mediocre songs and between that and political voting, it was depressing. I'm delighted for Sam and I think the song from Ukraine is incredibly poignant. What a great result for all the right reasons.
