    Swami Sarvapriyananda could have taught anything he wanted and succeeded. He's a great teacher. He could have pursued literally anything and taught it at Ivy league colleges if he wished, he has the capability. But he devoted his life to God, to the self. All of us, even in worldly life, can carry and realize the essence of his renunciation. I love you Swamiji ☺️

      Swamiji, a realized person who truly knows she is brahman may overcome suffering, but how can one not suffer when one's child is suffering? It almost seems selfish to pursue vedantic self realization while that suffering goes on. It s after all the nature of a mother to care for her child. Pranam Swamiji

    Excellent questions and I learned a lot from Swamy Sarvapriyananda.
    With regards to the final question, I googled whether Carl Jung. visited Ramana Maharshi. Carl Jung did not meet Ramana Maharshi in spite of Heinrich Zimmer's expectation. Zimmer was a great admirer of Ramana Maharshi. It looks like Carl Jung was not fascinated with Ramana or any other gurus and he was very dismissive of Ramana Maharshi.
    Apparently, this is what Jung said about the Maharishi.
    Carl Jung said that" Ramana's desire to escape the ego is self-contradictory because, without the Maharshi's personal ego, there would be no Shri Ramana at all".
    Jung also wrote: " For the fact is, I doubt his uniqueness; he is of a type which always was and will be. Therefore it was not necessary to seek him out. I saw him all over India, in the pictures of Ramakrishna, in Ramakrishna’s disciples, in Buddhist monks, in innumerable other figures of the daily Indian scene, and the words of his wisdom are the sous-entendu of India’s spiritual life. Shri Ramana is, in a sense, a hominum homo, a true “son of man” of the Indian earth. He is “genuine,” and on top of that he is a “phenomenon” which, seen through European eyes, has claims to uniqueness."

    Swami Sarvapriyananda's memory is phenomenal. He remembers so many scriptural quotes and effortlessly recollects them at appropriate time in his discourses and answers. It is a great fortune that we have him in our life time. Sometimes I feel I missed Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda, but then take comfort in that Swami is around here to bring the light of the scriptures and the lineage of gurus.
    In reference to 25:40 where Swami says that the caste system is frozen sometime in the "ancient" time in India, I disagree with it somewhat. Also, Swami seems to equate "Varna Dharma" (based on guna-karma or tendencies and activities) with the "Kula dharma" (caste, based on tribal affiliation or affinity of relationships, combined with life style). This equivalence is imposed by the invaders. Kula does not have any scriptural support while Varna has vedic injunctions. Varna is not inherited but the Kula is. Varna doesn't seem to have any specific prescribed deity/dieties, while Kula has "Kula Devatas" to be worshipped by all kaulas. There are few other differences that make Varna and Kula distinct. What we see in today's India is a caste system (Kula) trying to justify itself as scripturally supported Class system (Varna). This weird system gathered bad parts from both systems and flourished with the support of invaders. Historical evidence also strongly suggests the same. In light of this history, we cannot conclude that the ancient India (whatever time period Swami refers to unless it is after the foreign invaders from 7th century on wards) has frozen caste system based on four Varnas.

    • @rdc515
      @rdc515 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know, Caste is Jati. The word for Kula is Clan. Because within the same Jaati, there can be many Kulas. I am a Maithil Brahmin but my paternal village's Kula Devi is different from my maternal village's Kula Devata. We also use Kula and Khaandaan interchangeably these days. But Jaati, Gotra, Kula, and Mool are all different categories used by us. In light of this, Would you rephrase your reply or like to add anything more?

    • @YogAroodha
      @YogAroodha 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rdc515 As far as I see in South Indian languages, Jati is used to refer loosely to race or people from a country of origin. It is not on any official forms but Kula is. Whites are a Jati, Turkish invaders are a Jati, British are a Jati. Tribals are Jati. All Indians are a Jati (Bharatha Jati - descendants of Bharatha). Kula is not directly related to Jati based on linguistic use of Jati. Jati does not have any religious or traditional injunctions on worship, diet, and customs as far as I know. Kula is more well defined term and is used in reservations and official categories. In this context, Swami also did not refer to Jati in anyway. As far as I know, Jati is not relatable to Varna or Kula, even though certain regions in India might have used it loosely to refer to them.

      @@YogAroodha varna on the basis of guna as referred by Sri Krishna was a most scientific & if righty followed even today ,will give the best result for true development of the country .
      Present day ,the degradation of the society is mainly due to the reason that persons inborn quality don't suit what he do,so the quality of the work they do suffer.
      If a soldier's inborn quality doesn't similar to a kshatriya, during war & when employed to defend the country or the place ,he will not perform that well where great valour is required. Corruption in police & other forces are due to wrong selection,where inborn kshatriya quality of the person not rightly assessed.

    • @YogAroodha
      @YogAroodha 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bhattacharya6774 How do we find out inborn quality of a human being and at what age should that test be given? If we don't know somebody's inborn quality, we cannot conclude their inborn quality doesn't suit what they are doing. All Indian soldiers entered the service voluntarily without drafting them. Therefore, they all must be considered Kshatriyas. This also agrees with Lord Krishna's description - Guna & Karma - in this case, just based on Karma, because Gunas are not assessed directly. Swami must be considered a Brahmin without regard to his birth caste, because he dedicated his life to Brahma Jnana Sadhana, again just based on Karma only. This should be the same for all Varnas.

    I once attended a lecture by Swami Sarvapriyananda, in which he told the story of a young monk of the Ramakrishna Order, who was suddenly stricken by an incurable disease, and within a few days he died at the hospital. But the core of the lecture was that the doctor who attended the monk was devastated by the suffering and death of such a young person, but the monk consoled him, saying that everything was fine, because the meaning of his life had already been fulfilled to discover devotion to God through Sri Ramakrishna, Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda, and that the doctor was very impressed to see that concrete manifestation of the miracle of faith. I cannot find the video of this lecture. Could anyone here tell me in which video I could find this story? Some friends and I have created a channel to subtitle Swami's videos into Portuguese, and I would love to be able to subtitle this one too. Thank you.

    Why does the underlying one-ness/consciousness require that the reflection (our subtle body + causal body) come to the Advaita/enlightenment realization.. otherwise, if it does not, it must continue to transmigrate to another body?
    BTW, Sadhguru suggests that once you make it to the age of 84, enlightened or not, your connection to the earth is sufficiently weak where you don't have to return after death!
    And upon death, how is your enlightenment judged? I get that your unique perspective is a product of mind/body, the real thing is the underlying Atman consciousness, so after enlightenment/death what will be your experience? Dolores Cannon / Anabela Cordoso suggest there are entities in the post-death dimension that are helping humans raise their consciousness.
    Finally, what does this say about the purpose of one's life.. or the best use of one's time on its effect on Karma. For example, having no/kids, vocation / money / selfishness-passion, traffic/anger, etc. If the purpose of life is to come to this God realization is that the same as those that devote their lives to their (Christian, Islam, etc) religion?
    And what does this one-ness suggest about Free-Will? And how are things like ghosts, remove-viewing, telepathy, and the host of other paranormal activity explained by the framework of Vedānta?
    Would love to see a discussion between Bernardo Kastrup and Swami Sarvapriyananda about the meaning if it all.. what is the one consciousness' goal, ex. Telos.

    But caste is a European (spanish) word. And the caste system in Europe was far more frozen than in India precisely because they did not have the Dharma! The current crises in India is politicization of caste which has led to casteism. And we have enough reason to believe that these fault lines were created or used by the colonial powers to divide the Indian society. So I dont think I am completely with Swamiji on this!

    Swami Sarvapriyananda has got exceptionally great way of explaining the great vedanta in simple words. I seems to understand a bit of it. I am listening to his talks for the last 2 years. I discovered him on Soundcloud during the covid lockdown days. I listened to his vedanta talks on Bhagavad Gita , I completed listening his 80 talks, now its 6th chapter. Swamiji you are doing great, I am really thankful to you. I wish to meet you in person some time in near future. I work n live in Pune India.

    just as reflected consciousness knows of its own mind, is pure consciousness knows of all minds? or pure consciousness is just a witness or spectator of all minds?
    From the point of view of dreams example, I am only a spectator or witness, and I knows only one mind, but not everyone’s mind who is appearing in my dreams.
    Does anyone have answers to my questions?

    For the first question, swami mentioned that subtle body goes from one life to another as transmigration. Subtle body consists of mind, memory, experiences, etc. if that IS transmigrated, why don’t I remember anything from past life, why do I have to learn fire is hot and 1+1=2, etc. as per swami Vivekananda, only proof of rebirth is that some characteristics or maturity in thought process different for different persons and many time it cannot be explained by DNA, hence it has to be accumulated from past birth. I still haven’t heard convincing argument or explanation of what and how transmigrates you rebirth. can this be a question for next Q&A @Vedanta New York?

      Why do you think anyone needs to go to church when millions of Christians have stopped going themselves. If you read Bible and researched the history behind it, you will also leave the church and embrace Hinduism.
