Made a single stage with 10-12 Titan engines with a thrust to weight ratio of like 28:1 which I managed to get up to about 1.5% light speed.
And here I am building gas stations in orbit to assemble Starships. To Jupiter with ground bases and Rovers on each Moon and a Lander to land on each of them. Then get the people home safe and sound.
There used to be batteries and electricity in the game, but they removed it because I don’t think they were satisfied with the system. I miss ION engines.
If your landing on smth your TWR still has to equal 1 on that planet (TWR in the VAB is for earth). To find your TWR on other planets. Find the reciprocal of the gravitational acceleration in G (1G=9.86m/s^2) and your TWR with it. For example for a moon lander with a TWR readout of 1. On the moon the gravitational acceleration is 0.16G (find its reciprocal) and then times your TWR readout by that, to see your TWR on the moon. Reciprocal is calculated by doing this: 0.16=0.16/1 then swap the numerator and the denominator, 1/0.16=1÷0.16=6.25. So, if your TWR readout says 1, on the moon it is 6.25. Meaning your lander makes 6.25 times the force of gravity on the moon. On mars the gravitational acceleration is roughly 0.35G, on Venus its 0.96G, on mercury is around 0.2G. On Io its 0.13G, Europa is 0.1G, Ganymede is 0.14G and finally on Callisto its 0.12G. If your mad enough to go to try and land on Jupiter its 2.63G.
