    I like Taehun kim's style he's a straightforward agressive attacker with a lot of guts, Deahoon lee's techniques and experience are no joke too

    I do taekwondo, and is it just me who is confused that the Olympic fighting style is so different to sparring in class and at tournaments? Maybe it changes for different clubs/organisations

      Because olympic rules. It's actually only about speed. Nobody is going for KO.
      Most amateurs would be overchallenged with olympic rules, of course.

    Why is poomsae not in the olympics? I mean. Why only sparring? There is so much more in taekwondo than just sparring. Hanmadang competition too to show the application of poomsae moves in self defense. Kinda like bunkai in karate. But they should at least include poomsae in the olympics to attract more people and to encourage more athletes to aim higher. I heard that karate will have both kumite and kata in the upcoming 2020 olympics. So why not taekwondo?

      Join the club of salty poomsae competitors lol. I've been annoyed since they announced it. But yeah honeslty it is a bit unfair but I can maybe see their reasoning, Olympic qualifiers come from a handful of different associations so that could make it difficult to judge and score due to the large differences in each style. That's the only point I can really think of.

    I really hate it when taekwondo is called a sport. At my club in Australia it is a martial art and we train traditionally, not like this Olympic nonsense.

      Well if you learned it, you’ll probably know there is 겨루기, which literally means fighting. And There is a reason why Taekwondo is in the oylmpics while karate and kunfu isn’t. It is a very practical martial art. Very powerful so of course very tiring, need strength also flexibility.
      We all learn traditional mindsets in classes. But since it’s in the olympics it’s all about sport parts and you gotta win. I’m Korean btw.
      And I’m proud and thankful that many people are learning traditional parts too.

      muay Thai? are you nuts?
      people would have knee caps and lower limbs all over the floor! and don't get me started how much damage elbow hits would have on the face

    • @christinechon2464
      @christinechon2464 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know muay thai is used in practical fighting, but how would they measure it as a sport?

    • @orueom7720
      @orueom7720 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christine Chon maybe when the opponents have broken knees and paralysed legs... its too dangerous of a sport to have in the olympics
