- Hey everyone, in today's video, we follow Jarrod as he stumbles upon a Yamaha Tri-z three wheeler on Facebook Marketplace. He brings it back to his shop and does a compression test to see how it's running. After taking a closer look, he finds some leftover parts and decides to replace the CDI and coil. With the mechanical work done, Jarrod cleans up the Tri-z and gives it a fresh new look. With the help of Orion and Linda, they redo the seat cover and add some new stickers from Sweet T. It's awesome to see the transformation of this classic three wheeler and it's sure to inspire anyone looking to restore an old ATC. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the video!

Get up in there. I bought a 85 trip back in 1999 with 10 minutes run time old man bought didn't realize what he bought first ride flips it bust clutch cover. I bought a basically a brand new tri z for $300.
Them ol Tri-Z's are fast and way ahead of their time. That is genesis to the banshee.

The Honda 3 wheelers are legendary but I always had a soft spot in my heart for TRI Z's. Keep saving them brother, good stuff 👌🔥
Legendary for being so dangerous. I think that's why they stopped building them 😳
@@Iaintwoke Any vehicle is dangerous. The problem with 3 wheelers was lack of education on how to properly use them. Most people who purchase one were not educated on how and obviously did not read their operations manual. I would argue it is the parents fault for not learning the machines and teaching their kids before letting them rip on one.
@@bullfrogjay4383 Don't think it was quite as simple as that. All the manufacturers stopped making them and that's never happened with motorcycles or quads has it. Besides it was written about a lot at the time which is what I remember.

My current stable is KTM 2006 200EX, 1975 TY250 (cream puff), two 1993 Blasters bought from original owners, great condition, 2002 Artic Cat 90 quad, 1985 ATC 70 and 1984 Tri Zinger bought from original owner. My Wife’s bike I bought new 1982 DS125 run like a champ.

@@TimeMachinesATVs a battle worth fighting. I’ve got the YTM225 but it’s not the same. No where close to the same. Hopefully one day I’ll get one. If you get it running back top notch. Never rode a tri-z but had a cousin w/ a Honda 200r that thing was so fast. Sketchy is exactly how I remember it lol. Those 80s-90s 3 wheelers were gnarly and pretty dangerous but also very fun

awesome find. always wanted a tri-z as my 1st trike was a yellow 225dx back in 1984 and that was life changing back then until I got a new Warrior 350 instead. 2 stroke power! enjoy that machine, you earned a new subscriber
The shaft driven models where the best with a modified exhaust.
I agree I had 225 shaft drive Yamaha loved it. Currently own a Big Red 1984 shaft drive with reverse love that machine as well.

Man takes me back my dad bought me a 250R with a wrist throttle with just and aftermarket fmf pipe man I miss that damn thing I was 12 when he got me that three wheeler loved it never broke down we put a big bore striker kit on it and that thing was insane

Don’t know much about these but that engine looks awful similar to that of a banshee. Not exactly though, maybe it’s predecessor??
banshee engines are not even close to a tri-z engine . banshee motors were based off of the 350 twin old street bikes
@@tmfg395 now that someone said that, I can see it now, now being able to see it in comparison all 3 are very different. But the shape and angles of vid did make it remind me of a banshee for some reason. Either way that’s a bitchin trike, I don’t think either of us can dispute that fact 😉

@Seth Jekanowski could have been a 250 like your same color same everything just mines was bored out 80 over and jetted no exhaust fast puppy raced cars in the street with it broke many sprockets but was great
