I have not seen this technique since my metal work teacher showed it to be me, 40+yrs ago.
Take a rod of steel, hit it constantly on the anvil with a large hammer, and it will heat up to the extent you can use it to light tinder. Thought it was magic when I saw it when I was 15yrs old.

Great improvised back set up. Thanks for sharing. I always watch the poisonous TH-cam ads on your ads. Best I can do to support you beyond a thank you.
I love your knot videos and am also glad to see you were brave enough to share the knowledge on trapping even though it would bring heat from society. Crazy to me how people are okay with infanticide but trapping is an issue. God bless

Outstanding. Learning more knots and lashes is always helpful. Thanks

It is always nice to see lashings being demonstrated on video. I have looked at this same lashing multiple times in D.C. Beard's Field And Forest Handbook and it never made much sense. It is probably because I never actually wanted to use it, I was just browsing the knot section.

Mule tape makes amazing rope! Rated from 1250 to 6000 lbs it’s not gonna break. Overkill for this, but I thought I’d share. (I love knots) Walmart has 600’ of 5/8” unmarked white 1,600 lb rated mule tape/pull rope for $49.99 with free shipping. They have an assortment. I found out about it from a lineman friend. I use it for tarp lines and webbing chairs. It’s soft on skin. It’s polyester so it’s waterproof and you just melt the cut ends, you could use it as an elephant leash! 😂 Made in the USA. You can often find it on eBay, but I was happily surprised to find it on WM online. I like unmarked best, but it doesn’t really matter. Just sharing in case others don’t know about this. Happy lashing!

If you've got a heavier load, and it's pinching your neck, tie up your upper rung knot so the straps have two inches of space between where they stretch out from the pack. Knots will vary based on your material. That'll reduce the pinching.

I really like this. I am curious if it essential to go under the center line of the diamond or is it just more secure. Just thinking in terms of time, it would be faster to go over top, but is the time worth it to avoid collapse down the trail.

Looks Good, cant help but wonder if Dave and Corporal scour the boy scout websites for many of these tips...one suggestion, if using rope is create a Monkey Braid for each side of the strap, distribute the load a little better.
Diamond hitch is one of my favorite knots! Thanks for showing!
Also, I find it helpful to tie a block and tackle...truckers hitch to finish it off.

Been watching a lot of the older stuff. Just wondering how the Flex seal on the bottom of the canvas bag went over time. Think that video is 5 years ago now. Or if anyone else tried it.
