I remember my mate's first crop of Trit, just after the 1980's drought. 1985 it was, just after a heap of rain. This was at Manildra NSW. When it came time to harvest dozens of farmers from around the area turned up to see the result. The 9acre paddock yielded exactly 36tons = it all went into one bin to the very top. On the paddock where the sheep camped the harvester busted pulleys left and right; it was that thick. Your videos bring back great memories. Think I'll buy another Lotto ticket for one last fling.
Another ripper blog , When I was your age I was sowing sub with a sunshine drill ( wooden Boxes , seed and fert ) The boxes where a mile of the ground had to stand on the tray of a 1929 Chev truck to refill .
Usually we are pretty consistent with our rain throughout the year where we are. Should have stated that we will get a grazing off some of these paddocks before winter hits!
@@ourfarmlifeaus wow that is nice. It is totally different from our raining season which absolutely disappears after August and doesn't rain again until April/May.
Hey mate good luck with the planting, have you guys ever done wheat? We are tossing up putting some in this year because the long term forecast looks decent for us on the other side of the ranges. Cheers
Hi Blake, just recording how many hectares I do and then corresponding it to how many kilos of seed I have put in! Not an actual system in the gps that measures it for me. Just a hectare meter
@@ourfarmlifeaus thank you mate, sorry one more question I noticed you didn’t run a cultivator over the paddock before seeding.. Do you just spray the paddock and run the seeder straight over the existing pasture? Love the channel by the way 👍
@@blakesmith9438 no worries Blake, glad you enjoy it! Yep just a spray fallow over summer then another one before sowing generally. Some paddocks like hay paddocks we will ploughing before hand but that’s just to get everything nice and flat really. Don’t do a lot of full tillage anymore.
Great video thanks 🤠🇦🇺
Thanks for a great video mate. l did'nt know about the tractor brake pedals until now 👍
Another cracking episode. Thanks mate.
Gday mate good video

That's awesome Mike. Hopefully ours will turn out at least half as good as that!😄
You know you're watching an Aussie farm vid when the cockies give the seed a bit of a pizzling.
😂😂
Planted Triticale a few times, yields very well. Usual plant it with vetch, so that the vetch can climb up the Triticale, makes great feed.
Yea righto, i wouldn't mind planting some vetch one day! You're right it is awesome feed

That's awesome Bob. You know I have a feeling there is one sitting up the scrap heap. I will have a closer look now.
It is interesting that your already seeding for winter. Which month do you normally receive rain for winter?

Machinery and breakdowns are just a part of farming life - never seem to break down in the shed (usually!!)

Hey mate, yep have done it for a couple of years now! I think it is good stuff, manning is the variety we put in.
Hi mate, what system are you using for the GPS to track how much seed is going out per hectare?

@@ourfarmlifeaus thank you mate, what hectare meter are you running?
@@blakesmith9438 It's a FarmScan mate, pretty common i think. area meter 1100 and a jackal
