Large-scale testing of a prestressed pile as built in an existing bridge

This test investigates the behavior of a prestressed pile near the pile-to-pile cap connection. Prior to this test, a numerical investigation was used to identify the location of the 1st inflection point below the pile-to-pile cap connection. This allowed us to isolate this segment and be able to test the pile as a cantilever member; that is, the specimen's length corresponded to the region from the pile cap to the 1st inflection point.
