I saw it in a drive in theater, the sound echoed everywhere, most excellent!

Great ST, though a bit limited mellotron-wise. Only choirs. Zoltan did in 2016 a cover of the main title using mellotron-strings. Though I prefer the original, the strings are stunning.

I found the CD version on Ebay and it's selling for a few hundred dollars. I'm going to try to get one. One of the best motion picture soundtracks of all time!
For that price, get the vinyl. OG 1979 print is about the same price, the Mondo Remastered re-release is about $150, Japanese 79 vinyl is about $70

Very lucky. Like Halloween, if Phantasm didn't have this soundtrack it just wouldn't do as well. These soundtracks are perfect for setting the mood and time. This soundtrack is dated to 1979 and good.
I have all 5 films on disc but the original is the best and the soundtrack both sinister and sublime. The funeral is about to begin........sir!
I don't have 5, but I have 1-4 on BD, a Steelbook of 1 on BD, and the Wide-screen Collector's Laserdisc which I got for next to nothing over a decade ago and now it's over $100
When I have first seen the movie 'Phantasm', I thought the dwarfs were inspired by the Jawas from the movie 'Star Wars - A New Hope' ;-)!

It’s so crazy I can hear the music and immediately recognize the scenes. My dad showed me this as a kid and it’s my favorite movie ever. Absolute favorite. So effin cool. They played a good game boys…
I seen it in the movies opening weekend with friends at a local theater in 1979, bought the album from mail order in Fangoria magazine. It’s still at my parents house in a record cabinet down the basement.
At 11:44, lets get down and boogie with some Phantasm disco....I wish they play this song at my local bar =)

Same. I too was born in 87. I saw it in Christmas 1995, hadn't seen my Mom in 2 years, she picked me and my older sister up from outside Louisville KY taken down to Jackson MS. We watched this that night and it blew my 7½ year old mind. Mike was super cool, when he blows the door with the 12 gauge buckshot hammer, I was hooked.

One of the best horror soundtracks to this day. Crisp, chilling, stunning and fantastic.Still sounds current the audio is amazing. It's up there with soundtracks: Suspiria the original, Hellraiser, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Rosemary's Baby. Partial to the Sinister and Lords of Salem soundtracks too.Your intro is great.
Bought a copy off eBay after hearing this. Sounds way better than all the compressed copies I've heard

Chic 'N' Stu Yeah! When he throws Mike into the hearse. The drumming is great! Very epic part of the score
It really brings you to that very point in the movie, where it seems Mike is finally cornered and in the hands of the sinister Tall Man, definitely an incredible momen
The lead on the disco version is going ham at the end of that particular end

I would have said it WAS a carpenter piece if I'd heard it with no artist credits shown. The styling is very similar.
