Blaming everything on climate change/global warming is extremely shortsighted. Another reason might easily be missed due to accepted dogma. Micro- and nano- particles of plastics may be a factor, considering they infest shellfish colonies all over the world. If global warming were the only factor, then corals would colonise cooler waters, just as fauna and flora expand to cooler areas do across the world.
Ocean acidification. Linked to CO2 concentrations just like global warming. And some coral reefs are slowly migrating to cooler waters. But it is too slow to make up for the loss.
