I currently use Obsidian for my notes/ideas hub, Notion for my content creation and home/lifeOS areas - but this was really cool to see how I can take some of these ideas (like the created and edited times) and bring them into my Obsidian notes. Also making sure things are linked, easily readable etc.
And especially the point about documents maybe being beefy at first but you can always separate out and trim down later rather than trying to fit into specific constraints was really good

  • @RedaLazri

I'm in the process of moving to Obsidian since it has a bottom up approach where it doesn't require you to have a setup before you figure out how you want to work, unlike Notion's Top down approach demonstrated in this video.
But it was fun to watch nonetheless, thanks! ❤

There's something about notion that makes me pay attention every time I see a video about it, probably I am missing something, but maybe it's not for me. I see these setups and workflows and maybe I just want a simpler notetake app. Ps. You both are great. Ty.

When it comes to user experience, Notion really sets the bar when it comes to PKM, or even KM in general.
That said, I absolutely do not want my second brain stored on a proprietary Database.
So I just scarcely use Notion as a guilty pleasure, but keep my actual 'second brain data' stored locally.
Nonetheless, I think this video can provide some inspiration for workflows with Obsidian or LogSeq.

  • @digaum

Your data is not private with Notion and it doesn't work in offline mode when needed. I'm going with Anytype, thank you very much.

Preach! I've been waiting for Tiago to showcase how to set PARA up in Obsidian. Would be great to see since folders and links can be used same same but different. I read the PARA book and while I loved it, I wish there was more on linked based approach to using PARA.

Notion is meanwhile like a religion. The company notion did so well they even don’t need a marketing department anymore because most of the users are spreading the word that notion is the one and only tool for notes. It’s not about the tool but about the system. You have to stick to the system and it has to be simple. The problem with notion (and many other tools) is that you fall into the trap that you think by setting them up you get work done. You don’t. Work will get done by actually doing the work and not by playing around with notion (and other tools)

just wanted to know .. why you didn't know some of the basic features of Notion as you are using it for many years...?
    This is lowering your credibility.
