I love the layout. Detail is unbelievable. What I hate (no reflection on the layout at all) is when the cars are so far apart you can't even imagine people walking between cars. I also see that on some layouts where you can fit a cow between the train and the platform. Just a modelling peeve of mine. Great job though!
Yeah I agree. They have to keep the cars far apart so that you can run it on tight model railroad curves. I guess if you had scale curves they could make scale gaps. Also agree on the distance between platform and train. For that there is no excuse.
thank you . I make the stations myself. It kind of fun and its not really that hard. the tiles on the walls come in sheets and are made of plastic. you cut them to size. the I beams are from Plastruct. the florescent lights are from Miller engineering and are a necessity for the proper subway lighting. Lots of other things are just made with balsa wood keeping proper scale in mind. I dont get crazy but I use the train and some O gauge people to get the proportions right. Or at least close.
Hello Sir, I've got a question for you regarding both your R12 & R26 that somehow I didn't notice two years ago when I first saw this video. The lead (powered) car on both sets of course have headlights, but surprising both sets have EOT (End Of Train) marker lights on the trailing car. What was done to achieve that as typically MTH didn't offer directional lighting on both ends and none of the RailKing (IRT) models had that switch on the end car to light up EOT markers as they have on their Premier (B-Division = BMT/IND) models, so if you reversed direction would the lighting become directional (which is what was set to be done before the pandemic on my R26) or did you only put in place working EOT markers? Also, if you're on Facebook, please join us in the terrific group called 'O scale New York' you'll love it!
Hi Mark , nice to hear from you again. Unfortunately I am not on facebook. You are correct in saying that the lights on the last car do not light up. This drove me nuts, so I very simply took a very small bulb, I have heard them called " grain of wheat bulbs" and I wired it into the existing wiring. then slid the bulb behind the red lens. It fits in there perfectly. So these are just red lights and do not change with direction. Perhaps I will make a video of this .
@@yeksun Thanks for your fast response! Great to hear from you. The lack of EOT markers bothered me too, so I've got my R26 with my tech who's trying to convert it to directional lighting as he's done on all of my HO scale Walthers Proto 1000 NYCTA subway sets and on one of my HO scale MTH NYCTA subway sets that was a royal pain in the neck to where he refuses to work on anymore of my HO MTH subway sets. MTH intentionally makes things difficult as to discourage modellers from upgrading and customising their trains as he found out with my HO set and as he's finding out with my R26 of which he might rip out all of the MTH electronics which I'll lose sound and simply install decoders to achieve directional lighting which is more important to me than sound. MTH has really screwed their supporters, customers and fans over leaving us in a bind. Have you done anything with your layout since these subway videos? Good to hear from you and thanks. Be well and be safe.
@@yeksun I wanted to share this video with you comparing what my tech did on my Walthers subway sets as far as lighting upgrades are concerned and what MTH offered as directional lighting on their HO subway sets. th-cam.com/video/3ICp7anb6kQ/w-d-xo.html
beautiful layouts you have but when you made your subway-el station how did you get that distinctive scent that is always associated with them (sarcasm) I'm retired from septa and born and raised in Philadelphia
SUPERB stations again with great detail and very fine touches. Your platforms are at the perfect prototypical height. I love the R-12 and remember it vividly, but what I don’t remember is it having a PA system for station announcements by the conductor and neither did the R-1 through R-9, nor the LoV or BMT Standards that’s a problem that I have with MTH regarding realism. I’ve got my R-26 getting lighting upgrades to LED as I did with my R-12 & R-40 Slant nose. How big is your layout? Good stuff!
I hear what you say about the realism with mth and the announcements. But it is still fun , although sometimes it can be annoying. My pet peeve is the "cab chatter" lionel and mth use on their steam locomotives. They sound like they are on a CB talking to a dispatcher. I dont think they were using 2 way radios on the railroad in the 40's. its irritating. My layout is shaped like a U , although I do something different every year. The base of the U is 14" across by8' deep then the legs of the U are 16' X 4'
yeksun That’s FUNNY (the irritating cab chatter)! Yeah they go overboard with such nonsense as it seems that they don’t consult ANYONE for the sake of realism and being prototypical. MTH is seriously guilty of that.
Nailed it! That is sooooo cool!

Love it! Your subway videos are great. Thank you for sharing. Thumbs up.
NICE! I love those stations! Do you make them yourself or buy them?

yeksun thank you so much I know how to to my stations correctly now!👍👍
Will you ever do an express/local type system?
What do you mean? An above ground regional rail style? Im always open to ideas. Give me some details. Thanks

LoL . I am proud to say that is one aspect of my subway that is true to life.
Fantastic modeling!

Awesome! How did you make the station?
Awesome great layout
How did you do the tile work on the pillars?Very realistic.P.N.
The tiles come on 8"x 11" sheets they are made of plastic. Just cut what you need and glue in place. I think I bought them from Hobby linc.
Dude soon can u do a giveaway
