im a Ayrton Senna fan and when he died, motorsports died to me, until now with your Australian V8 Supercars, filled with excitement, even the tv cameras are placed in the perfect spots so we can get exciting views. simply amazing. McLaughlin, Whincup, Gisbergen, Greg Murphy, Winterbottom, Lowndes... so many good pilots. Congrats to all, from Portugal.
The Le Mans 24 Hour, Nordschleife 24 hour, Indy 500, Daytona 500 and Monaco Grand Prix's are all events that are of a larger status and prestige. Not taking anything away from the Bathurst 1000 it's one of the greatest motorsport events in the world but saying it's by far greater than any other is pure idiocy.
They have two driver changes. Main driver starts the race, co-driver does the middle stint generally before the half way mark with a compulsory minimum of 54 laps and then the main driver gets back in to finish the race.
Yep 620 miles in just over 6 hours. Back in 1970 and 71 when the race was only 500 miles (130 laps) Allan Moffet drove the race on his own in 6h 34m and 6h 09m respectively. Then in 1972 the legendary Peter Brock raced on his own and took 6h 00m.
I love the Bathurst 12 hour race. For whatever reason, the mountain seems to produce very close racing. But on the way to the checkered flag there is a lot of crashes and heartbreak. Video doesn’t really show how steep the track is, and its many difficulties humbles the best.
Here is the last 16 minutes of a 12 hour race with 5 cars fighting for the podium. After 12 hours 5 cars are paint scraping close to each other, and a surprise result. The UK commentator is the icing on the cake: th-cam.com/video/54fS8XRUP2I/w-d-xo.html
I'd still say currently the 3 most professional drivers out there would be Jamie Whincup, Craig Lowndes And Garth Tander. Garth never makes mistakes and has a very intelligent style of driving a race car. The only reason he isn't getting great success would be that he just hasn't got the right car underneath him. And it shows, because every time he has a good car behind him he is extremely hard to beat and shows great pace.
god i want these guys to come back to texas so badly ),: ill take these guys over F1 or any others, simply amazing racecraft and the sound is just soulful
Them Fuckin Cars Are AMAZING and Sound like V-8 Heaven awesome DRIVING as Well. From the U.S.A. and life long NASCAR & AUTO Sports Fan. NOW !! a Fan os Your Series Awesome Race and Footage.
This is Bathurst 1000. A 1000 kilometre race (161 Laps) contested each year. By far the biggest race in the calendar year and in my opinion, bigger than the Championship itself.
I remember watching this like 8 Odd years ago, I remember Tander screaming 'fuckoff' in his car when he was driving along skyline. Anyway, what a great race and for it to come down to just metres, milliseconds. I was going for Lowndes, Well done Garth Tander.
Tander just had like 20 or 30 more horsepower, Lowndes couldn't even hold a slipstream behind. Great driving by both, but kudos to Tander's engine builder.
I remember being super pissed off when Tander beat Lowndes to the finish line. Looking back on that moment, I cringe over it and laugh how Wingecup's engine failed, thus preventing him from winning the race.
Back when the Supercars were good bring back the days of the real commodores and flacons, and the rivalry over those years of Tander, Lowndes, Whincup and Winterbottom
Well Texas hold'em mate I've never budge from a Ford is that VE Commodore a test or I've never batch from a Ford Dickey Johnson son in law and it goes to that and that we'll they don't like me no more
Let's look at the numbers, shall we? Lowndes has won Bathurst (at time of writing) 6 times, Tander's won 3 times. Lowndes has won 3 Australian Touring Car titles, Tander's won only once. Craig Lowndes is the one of only two racing drivers in Australian Touring Car history to win more than 100 races. I think these numbers speak for themselves.
It's interesting how Holden's dominance at this great race doesn't translate into Holden Commodore beating Ford Falcon in the Google search results. 79 million for the Blue oval while a miserable 29 million for the belly up GM branch in Australia. Lowndes should of stuck with Ford and drive a Mustang.
Aussie V8 super cars is the best racing you’ll see anywhere.
Awesome to find. I miss these old days!
I come back to this video from time to time. Some of the most exciting racing I’ve seen
I will love V8 Supercars forever, I'm from Czech Republic and I'm in love with that engine ...
Miss the VE Commodores :'(
Captainoob yes I currently own one and I think they are the best looking cars the general has ever made except for the camaro maybe lol
and this is why I watch V8 Super Cars now instead of F1
Willeh85 Mercedes cough cough
@@tanderbrown239 George Russell cough cough
This was 7 years ago though... Merc domination began so it’s valid
Watched this countless times now and it still makes my heart race, just love the aussie V8's.
Oh, and they sound so damn good unlike the current F1's.
Love this championship. Greeting from Spain. Keep it going forever please!
6:06 amazing sound. 2x 5 litre V8's at 7,500 rpm screaming their heads off at 295kph.
what a flyby. love these cars and their drivers, it's great to watch some proper racing.
Nothing better than that V8 sound.
Lowndes has an amazing reaction time and he is gutsy! Really good driver.
There is NO other race on this planet that comes even remotely close to BATHURST!
Well... Le Mans
Joshua Cross Not even close...
Joshua Cross
Joshua, I have watched quite a lot of Le Mans racing and to me it doesn't hold a candle to Mount Panorama.

Proud day for Holden fans. For v8 Supercar fans and for Aussie fans. THE BEST.
Being named after him is such an honour
The ve commodores where the good days
After 2 years I watch the same race finish and still took my breath away.
So these guys race 620 miles on a track like this...? For four to five hours? Wow.
They have two driver changes. Main driver starts the race, co-driver does the middle stint generally before the half way mark with a compulsory minimum of 54 laps and then the main driver gets back in to finish the race.

Better than nasscar

That's what's bathurst is all about those last laps are the best
I remember watching this live, I was only 11 and it was just awesome!
Great battle to the checkered! Loved every second of that
Yesss excellent upload!! Great memories!
Back then overtaking was difficult af. Big dirty air
The ve commodore is the best looking car to ever exist
I honestly don't ever remember Tander driving this well. Got to be the highlight of his career.
Nope, the highlight of his career was winning the championshipqw

The VE commodores were the best 😫
i have an SSV myself and i love it!
Why did I watch this, my blood pressure can kill me, yet I couldn't switch it off, lol.
Yeah Craig Lowndes dirt triple 888 we had some good rides there in the blueberry frango junior
Awesome race.
god i want these guys to come back to texas so badly ),: ill take these guys over F1 or any others, simply amazing racecraft and the sound is just soulful
This is just an epic showdown
I remember watching the whole race until the last lap!
If you were a script writer, you'd write it like this.
Nah, Tander would’ve beached it at Murray’s on the final lap and Lowndes would’ve won 😂
@@Loose89 They both would've run into each other and Murphy would've taken it :D
2020 Garth Tander won another Bathurst.
can you upload the same thing of 2012 season
Tanders greatest Win! Man I was nervous watching this! Good old HRT :(
La mejor carrera!!

Yup v8 supercars all the way bro
160 laps? Can some please explain this V8 Supercar series to me?
This is Bathurst 1000.
A 1000 kilometre race (161 Laps) contested each year. By far the biggest race in the calendar year and in my opinion, bigger than the Championship itself.
@@MitcheIIRichter is there 2 drivers or was it crew chief/leader and driver standing on the podium after it??

Pontiac G8 lol

while im watching this again i sort of have keep reminding myself that tander did win this race....it just looks like lowndes going to overtake tander
Ummm they did go to the USA this year champ, you obviously missed it.
I remember being super pissed off when Tander beat Lowndes to the finish line. Looking back on that moment, I cringe over it and laugh how Wingecup's engine failed, thus preventing him from winning the race.
Luckily Garth tander manages to hold him off
If it had not been for 888 looking after Whincup rather than trying to win the race , Lowndes would have won
THEY Did this year they went to textis
Back when the Supercars were good bring back the days of the real commodores and flacons, and the rivalry over those years of Tander, Lowndes, Whincup and Winterbottom
all i can say go u holdens u rule
Yeah the greatest losses on history even finance world stimulus
If the Lowndes/Skaife car didn't have to waste time stacking int he pits behind Wincup, they would have won this race easy.
The HRT cars would look better with while wheels!
The ve commodores where the good times now we have stupid mustangs and stupid Camaros not one bit of it is Aussie no more😢
Nascar sucks... Please bring V8 Supercars to the USA!!!
Lowndes wasn't aggressive at all, had several opportunities to dive and pass.
Craig is too smart to pull any moves off though. Could’ve ended badly, he’d rather take 2nd than DNF
Lowndes was the real winner of 2011.
Why?
Well Texas hold'em mate I've never budge from a Ford is that VE Commodore a test or I've never batch from a Ford Dickey Johnson son in law and it goes to that and that we'll they don't like me no more
tander the master lowndes the apprentice and that's all i can say about it
lowndes is a way better driver than tander
