@Darren Murphy the ones that are 400+ usually. Which is bullshit too as a stick as "cheap" as the Thrustmaster T16000M is more than immersive and WAY less expensive.
What's with the panic decoy spamming? You're launching 12 decoys at once by holding the button while you only need two. Check the keyboard map. There is a button to set the decoy count. Every time you get into the ship, set the count to 2, maybe 3 in bigger ships. Then just press the decoy button once

Great Vid Olli! When you have a split loadout (fixed weapons and gimballed weapons) it is better for me to just lock them all down using the G key and set it to lock. This makes all weapons fixed and will give you only one pip. You can also set your decoy number by using L-Alt H and Right Alt H, the number of decoys you need depends largely on the signature of the ship you are flying. I usually use 2 for smaller fighters, 3 to 4 for a Connie size ship. I used HOTAS for years and stuck by it as great, but then I tried HOSAS, (Dual Stick) and it is really amazing. Much better control over smaller fighters especially. I use the VKB Gladiators and they are amazing. I use a Streamdeck XL, 2 Game Glass tablets, and Tobii Eye Tracker 5 as well. Very immersive.
Been loving watching your rediscovery journey over these past few weeks, mate. It's great to be reminded with a fresh set of eyes just how exciting this game is and can be. Great to see you've got head/eye tracking now, too! It takes the immersion up a notch, hey? I'll echo what some other commenters have said: if you end up going more high-end for peripherals, having dual Virpil Constellation Alpha sticks is the next step up. I went from an X-52, to a HOTAS Warthog, to an X-56 (wanted twist on the stick), then up to the Virpils and it's just next level. You can also get button boxes from somewhere like Blackhog which have a bunch of buttons, switches, dials and which work really well in my experience. That being said, two Virpil sticks (plus the bases) and two button boxes would set you back probably close to 1500 EUR, so it's definitely higher-end.
eye tracker and HOTAS/HOSAS is great, but for the ultimate "immersion" you should add voice attack (helps with those hard to remember functions on the hotas) and gameglass for your tablet to replace MFD/camera functions (really nice for mining and emotes too), and if you are using a warthog I would recommend a foot controlled rudder for extra strafe/rotate function as it doesn't have a twist function... if you really want to improve also Avenger_One does free lessons in PvP dogfighting, I'm sure he would help you out ;)

Ollie, your stick curves will feel very weird as long as you fly in coupled mode. When you use throttle with coupled mode, you don't determine your acceleration, you determine your velocity. I know it's weird. Assuming you turn off the speed limiter, it works like this: 10% throttle forward gives you 100% thrust until you hit 10% of your max speed, then it holds you at that speed. 50% throttle forward gives you 100% thrust until you hit 50% of your max speed What you want is to turn off coupled mode. I notice you aren't moving your head around much to track the target while dogfighting. It takes getting used to at first for sure and you may have to force yourself to remember to do it. But it's essential to master it
You preloaded 8 decoys. Every time you use them, you send 8 of those away to counter a single missile. Most of the time you will need only a single decoy to counter up to 3 missiles, even though there can be missiles thant need 2 decoys to actually get rid of, but those are the odd ones, and if you know where you find the button to deploy them, you'll generally have enough time to use 2 countermeasures too if needed even if you deploy only one per use. The more you deploy in a single use the fewer missiles you'll be able to shake off before running out of countermeasures. If you really want to make sure that you get rid of a missile then use 2 or 3 decoys at most. Otherwise you'll not only run the risk of getting into a fight without decoys left, but also you will greatly reduce your income due to having to constantly refill almost your entire magazin.
