@@SamPashmiAre they now ? France's army is designed for projecting its power towards foreign countries in asymetrical wars. It is true that it's been pretty friendly towards Germany, but definitely not towards the rest of the world. They've managed to reduce France's power greatly through masterful use of the european institutions, and assured themselves a pretty strong dominion over the Union. They haven't been using military means (yet), that much is true... but such attitudes definitely aren't peace loving, and are bound to cause conflict in the future, which might even escalate into wars. He just included countries that declared German a national official language. While this is the case for Belgium it's not the case for other countries like Italy or Poland where it's official recognition is only regional or local.
initially, Belgium wasn't created as a road block of invasion from Germany to France, but rather the contrary, as a road block of invasion from France to Germany ! The power struggle only changed with the Franco-Prussian war of 1870. Before that, France was the major continental power. Belgium was created to humble French territorial ambitions.
um no, well kinda, they were created because a stupid dutch king kept discriminating the belgian catholics and didn't spend much money in Belgium, which led to them seeking independence and picking the ancient name of Belgium (from Belgica, Roman times) and the british and others supported them in peace conferences but they needed to give up some stuff. Originally, Netherlands was the meant buffer between Prussia and France, but the belgian uprisings changed things, and the british protected the belgians after their independence to keep Napoleon III from France from trying anything funny.
If you want full history of belgian territories : - the current territory has been politically united since the Bourguignons (ducal dynasty in the 14th century). At that time there were more than 5 different languages spoken over the land, derived from both french vernacular Latin and proto-german. - then controlled by the spanish&Austrich royal family (which are two branches of the same family... itself derived the Netherlands royal family) - then conquered by the french emperor napoleon - then freed by the British and the Prussian, to be given (back) to the royal family of the Netherlands in order to keep the french power under control in case another napoleon were to rise up - then gained independence, birthing the country that exists today
It has absolutely nothing to see with neutrality. We’d be disgusted by the idea of not being ourselves. We are not Germans and it’s not because they dream of us that we do. I’d rather see a civil war in Switzerland than Switzerland being part of any other country. We fought for our independence and kicked asses throughout history. There are probably more German speakers in Brazil than in Belgium (second language learned at home).
Yea prob because the population of Brazil is about 18 times bigger than Belgium with Brazil having 215mil people and Belgium having only 12 million. If we put them side to side Brazil has 1.9% German speaking people over 215.00.000 million people while Belgium has 0.7% over 12.000.000 million people if Belgium had 215.000.000 people it would have 11.9% of German speakers. And then come all the amerindian which bred with the argies and or were killed by argies after, AFTER, the spanish military withdraw from the new independent country, argentina. Then all the south italian immigration came, all illiterate, and have that italian sound to the bad spanish spoken there. Btw those south italians were and are still called "africani" in Italy. France's army is designed for projecting its power towards foreign countries in asymetrical wars. It is true that it's been pretty friendly towards Germany, but definitely not towards the rest of the world.
As for Germany... let's say France's friendly attitude towards them definitely doesn't go both ways.
If you truly love peace, then you need to look reality in the face and denounce such facts. If we keep pretending everything is alright, the peace we're currently enjoying won't last for long.

initially, Belgium wasn't created as a road block of invasion from Germany to France, but rather the contrary, as a road block of invasion from France to Germany ! The power struggle only changed with the Franco-Prussian war of 1870. Before that, France was the major continental power. Belgium was created to humble French territorial ambitions.
The irony is unbearable XD
um no, well kinda, they were created because a stupid dutch king kept discriminating the belgian catholics and didn't spend much money in Belgium, which led to them seeking independence and picking the ancient name of Belgium (from Belgica, Roman times) and the british and others supported them in peace conferences but they needed to give up some stuff. Originally, Netherlands was the meant buffer between Prussia and France, but the belgian uprisings changed things, and the british protected the belgians after their independence to keep Napoleon III from France from trying anything funny.
If you want full history of belgian territories :
- the current territory has been politically united since the Bourguignons (ducal dynasty in the 14th century). At that time there were more than 5 different languages spoken over the land, derived from both french vernacular Latin and proto-german.
- then controlled by the spanish&Austrich royal family (which are two branches of the same family... itself derived the Netherlands royal family)
- then conquered by the french emperor napoleon
- then freed by the British and the Prussian, to be given (back) to the royal family of the Netherlands in order to keep the french power under control in case another napoleon were to rise up
- then gained independence, birthing the country that exists today
It couldn't work out because The United Kingdom ensures Belgium's independence
Come on! UK doesn't "ensure" shit today. Do you think we are un early XX century?. UK does not have meaningful power today without US.
Switzerland wouldn’t join due to them being mostly neutral throughout history, this is how they avoided wars and conflicts whit a lot of countries
They also have 4 languages, not just German. German, French, Italian and Rhetoromanic
It has absolutely nothing to see with neutrality. We’d be disgusted by the idea of not being ourselves. We are not Germans and it’s not because they dream of us that we do.
