It's so refreshing to have a setup like this - kind Vampire and sweet human down on luck - and it doesn't turn into romance. I love my kitschy romances, don't get me wrong, but I love when a cute story just stays friendship or grows into a not-mainstream kind of relationship, like aroace or queerplatonic. Not everything needs to be the same kind of intimate relationship. Make platonic intimacy more mainstream, please! And now with that out of the way, let's talk about the elephant in the bedroom: Finally a story that chooses to circumvent the question of no blood circulation vs. undead boners in Vampires by making them not needing any "lower stakes" at all. With all my current and future scripts we record both M4M and M4F versions at once to make editing easier, but this series started back when I wasn't yet doing that.
