Also as the water temps warm up we start using Tru Trip 40 divers with spoons. We also fish a little more East of where you were fishing. That time of year the fish are already on their migration back East to cooler water.
That 1 mile per hour may translate to 1.7 or more under water due to current (rare in great lakes to not have curremt). It is interesting when you look at SOG on GPS but then look at a fishhawk/subtroll/depth raider and see the difference.. nice video!
Awesome Job! My entire moms side of the family go up to Kelly's every year and stay at the state park. My Grandfather has a boat and we take it out to fish with. We normally go about the end of July and the bit is very slow. I would say that most of time i wouldn't even notice that i had a fish on or it hit as i was reeling in.
No, wasn't a big deal to launch and take the boat out. It looked like there were a few campsites along the water, and you could probably beach your boat. But those shoreline site are huge demand and probably need to reserve many months in advance. And I misspoke in the video about the fish cleaning hut they have. it DOES have water, but the fish guts go in an open 55 gallon drum. Tons of flies and maggots! Other than that, it was a nice place to stay. One more thing I did nit mention, the island has no cell tower. You get some service at the south end of the island, but that's it. We had no service at all on the north end.

Great area
Great video and information. Were you able to keep the boat in the water overnight?
