I agree with you in that Mr Chen's rendering of this piece is beautiful, but I did not conceive baritones as type-cast in comic roles. I'm thinking of Rolando Panerai as the "Conte di Luna" in Verdi's "Il Trovatore", or in a totally different genre, I remember Paul Robson singing "Ol' Man River". Both interpretations are done by baritones, and are quite dramatic. Now, I must admit that I'm not a connoisseur.
