Nice review! I have seen many posts of folks commenting on “recycled steel” being an issue. I am familiar with heat treat process as well! Key here is the compromise between hardness & toughness! Not an easy task to engineer! Gransfors Bruk has got the right formula down pat, when it comes to hardness & not being brittle! Absolutely what is needed in an axe!

Soak the leather cord in warm water before you bind the protector that way the leather shrinks as you dry it, keeps it tight.
