- Plan 9 from Outer Space (originally titled Grave Robbers from Outer Space) is a 1959 independently made American black-and-white science fiction-horror film. Commonly refereed to as "the worst movie ever made" the story centers around aliens resurrecting the dead. Vampira plays a non speaking part as the undead wife of Bela Lugosi.

apparently Vampira had lines in the film originally, but Maila Nurmi (Vampira) found them so awful that she suggested to Edward Wood that he make the character mute, so she didn't have to say them. Lol

@@1940limited I looked it up. She starved herself, (“fasting” but I say starve) and kept her waist bound with dangerously tight corsets and wraps. He waist was SEVENTEEN inches. It’s extremely dangerous to do that. You can break your spine, ribs, and even destroy your intestines. It’s scary, but some women look up to her and do the same, and even have their lower ribs surgically removed to obtain a waist like that. The things some women do to their bodies…so sad.
@@SunBunz Yes, I've heard she did things like that, but she lived to be 86, so I guess somehow she got away with it. Honestly I don't think a waist that small is attractive. It's kind of freakish looking, but she's still an interesting character. There's no need to do that to your body. Take whatever nature gave you and work with it. Thanks for the reply.

Do we know who stole her memorabilia from her family yet? I know there is supposed to be a book, The Vampira Diaries coming out... but it was promised in print in fall 2019 with a gofundme raising almost $21,000..then a release in early 2021..seems like the project is having trouble. Is there any more reliable information on any of these topics? I'd like to buy Vampira merch ethically for once..meaning, in the name of (in)human decency, her FAMILY should profit. 🦇
