  • The r-value, or more precisely, the vertical anisotropy is one of the typical characteristic values in the tensile test according to ISO 10113, ASTM E517 and JIS Z2254. Until 2020, the determination of the r-value according to ISO 10113 was based solely on the assumption that a metal material in the range up to the uniform elongation Ag does not show any tapering within the parallel length. In order to achieve more realistic measured values, the r-value should now be determined over the entire gauge length, as it then includes the taper of the material. ZwickRoell has developed the new videoXtens T-160 HP specifically for this recommendation of the standard. It measures over 10 measuring axes, equally distributed over the entire measuring range. It not only provides realistic r-values according to ISO 10113, but also precise, highly accurate values, as it was developed specifically for these tests.7
