Petr-We fortunately bought a new ‘20 Camry Hybrid LE in October of 2020 (end of model year, and no one was buying cars during the pandemic) when dealers were offering $5K off of MSRP. $27K off the lot. They had any color or option combo you’d want-the dealers couldn’t get rid of them because everyone wants SUVs w/AWD, and gas was

Too many are proud or born into the American propaganda of our cars instead of reliability. And also the propaganda about things from Asia.. Made in Japan might as well be read, "Made in China." Even though their iPhones come from exactly there. And Samsung's also Asia but in a different place. Korea.

@@LAactor FWIW, most Camry’s sold in the U.S., including mine, are built in Kentucky. At one point, the Camry had more U.S.-produced content, design, and assembly than any other vehicle sold here, except for the Ford F-150.

@@konradhittner4668 yep I know. But non Toyota people don't. They would always say the money goes back to "over there." I know how the f150 is popular too. All the ferd stuff is junk except for that. Even the cop explorers. Upgraded package on junk design. Strangely enough, quality and reliability of Toyotas wend down with us made units from the Nummi Corollas in CA to the Kentucky Camrys. VIN code J all the way for me! No 1’s. Not even the Canadian RAVs. Albeit they are better. I'm all America first but hate the problems and cost to do that.

The Camrys built in Kentucky are also exported out of the country. My Camry is from Kentucky I'm not far from where Toyota builds the RAV4 eh. The fine folks of Kentucky have been trained by Toyota to build and deliver a good product. I'm thankful to them and happy to own the car.

@@IKnewMickey I concur. My Hybrid’s immediate predecessor was an ‘02 Kentucky-built Camry LE, complete with the “dreaded” 2AZ-FE 2.4 liter engine, that my younger son is still daily-driving with 320K miles. The original engine and transmission haven’t had internal service work beyond a couple of valve cover gasket replacements, and routine fluid & filter changes. Admittedly, the engine has been burning a quart of oil every 1000-1200 miles, but it’s been doing that for the past 100K+, and the regional independent Toyota guru’s guidance has been “That’s actually pretty close to spec, so just keep adding oil, and keep driving”. Despite the oil use, I’ve had no prematurely fouled plugs, converter, or O2 sensors yet. Krown rustproofing resprays have kept the thing pretty darn close to rust-free through two decades of Michigan winter salt applications, so it still looks as good as a beige Camry can. Kentucky Camrys have been good to me.

The relentless positivity is so enjoyable - and fully deserved for this particular car, IMO.

I’m so much like you. I rent cars quite often for my job. Whenever I get a vehicle I have driven before I take a look around, sit in all the seats, and look under the hood. It’s fun to see newly engineered products out there. But I still enjoy coming home to my ever so reliable and simple 2005 Tundra.

63.7 mpg "Imperial" while hyper mile experimenting 7am on a Sunday in a 2019 Camry SE non hybrid. 3 yrs old and only a fuel pump recall and regular maintenance. No other mechanical issues.

    • @rightlanehog3151
      @rightlanehog3151 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yes, the 2.5 engine with 8 speed automatic is very efficient on the highway. Car and Driver managed an astonishing 45 miles to the American gallon in their Camry 200 mile test loop at 75 mph. Having said that, I would still buy the Hybrid which will add 50% to city mpg while being even more efficient on the highway.

Any sound issues with the car? My 2020 has interior rattles and buzzings coming from the plastics during summer days (b-pillars, passenger doors, dashboard).

@@COMMANDERFOX31 occasionally I have a few squeaks around the A pillar area passenger side at around the freezing point but nothing like you are describing. My Camry is as quiet as the designers intended.

Nice new hi tech marvel of engineering. Hope it will last. These new cars are so complex. My 89 Corolla's oil filler port looks just as clean as this new Camry.

Yes I was about to say that tint looks fresh! And then you talked about it. So many people in California and they are nosy! Foot to have tint and protect the back deck, the leather breaks down around 15-20 years and gets very hard if not conditioned frequently. Protects any items inside too and the temperature down and helps the battery underneath stay cool.

Petr, For a moment I thought Toyota was sending you cars from their press fleet 😁Today's Camry and Avalon Hybrids offer incredible fuel efficiency though the wider tires on upper trim levels lose a few mpg. My only criticism is the insufficient rear seat headroom for taller passengers. I hope Toyota corrects that in the next generation🤨

I would have grabbed a Lexus ES250 AWD instead, totally worth the extra $4K. I've had this Camry for a year and a half and it has been a pain. This new gen has no sound insulation and is filled with cheap plastics in the interior that constantly rattle in the heat/cold. I've had passengers who were irritated by these rattles. Great daily commuter otherwise, especially if you manage to spend time and fill the rattle spots with foam (huge headache).

I own this car except its a 2020 and non-hybrid Camry. The rattles/buzzings/tickings that have been coming since day one from the interior plastics (7 different spots) have driven me nuts. Not sure if I got a lemon. Dealer tried to fix them 10 times and failed. Our 2007 and 2008 Camry SE never had any noise. They have cut the costs on these new models, replaced good parts with cheap dollar-store plastics. Probably the last Toyota Camry I will ever own again.

I hope she didn’t buy just for the gas savings, but I think a lot of people use that logic to justify buying a 30k plus hybrid. To your point, it’s going to take a lot of fill ups to justify it financially! #mathworks

Funny thing is the push for solely electrical cars. Except they use coal to burn and run the generator plants for their power grid. And that is if the car lasts that long. If the car wrecks, that's the savings turned into loss immediately
