What I love about this show is the development of the Janissaries and a glimpse into their organization and how they operated. These guys were feared in the 16th century but overtime they sought more personal power and became stagnant as a result. They were finally defeated by Sultan Mahmud II in 1826.
The cutest thing was when Iskender wore Anastasia's ribbon on his wrist, right? 😍
The one thing I like about MCK is that it fleshes out the Janissary Corps rather well. Already in these first few episodes we learn plenty about how Janissaries are introduced into the Corps and their rules
Janissary Corps*, not Corpse. 😅
they both mean the same thing "BODY"
@@cheesefoodxii3091 one means a dead body, another refers to a military unit, different meanings, different spellings.
@@shemba2694 Even different pronunciation
@@sirblackrose5293 That is facts.
@@cheesefoodxii3091no the first is subject because corps still alive and the second, corpse is a dead body

Which is better, to be a soldier in the most powerful military division in the world, or to be a peasant in a Balkan village?
Peasant
@@bebaagua6383 don't lie
those peasants in the balkans proved to be too much for the jannisaries however
@@jokesterthemighty227 the janissaries themselves were from thte Balkans , and in the 19th century when Balkans was lost the Jainissaires weren't the crack force of the 17th century anymore
Better a man in my homeland than a slave to foreign powers.
mostly albanian and bosnians ottomans. Still got the sword of my ancestors who were part of the corps.
Really? Thats awesome. Mind sharing some photos of the sword on imgur or something?
@@coroso136 its broken in two and pretty rusty. I only have pictures of the one half the other half is in posesion of my granduncle.
How your Family survive the infamous incident in the Mahmud II era?? Sorry for asking that 😢
@@bosbanon3452 not everyone was killed. Many left after being defeated and started doing normal jobs
Really?
what is that music which starts from 1.45
Janissaries were mostly all either Greek, Armenian, Serb, Croat, Albanian, Bulgarian, Bosnian, Assyrian, or Slovenian
Some of wallachian too from the tribute
i mean wow amazing knowledge. Dude like everyone knows that except in the start and end times of the ottoman empire Jannissaries were east Europeans. Thats not like Amazing hidden Insider Information you brought here.
Not Armenians or Assyrians.
brruhh the jenesaries were mostly turks and arabs wich is the vast majority of the ottoman population , but the ones who fought in europ were balkan
and who teach them, who rise the order if the jannissary?
Nice..iskander...they named him same name like Skenderbeg
He literally said he's named after Alexander the Great
Jannisary "corpse" is right if you get me anywhere near these guys
The precursors of the US Marine Corps. ☺️
So true they were the first loyal unit and brotherhood powerhouse core of the Ottoman Empire
yeah from roman legionnaries -> ottoman jannisaries -> us marine corps :)
@@johnsantini3382 they were also the parasites of the empire
@@jt.constantine honestly the janissaries eventually destroyed the empire through their own political infighting
How to find this music?
The cutest thing was when Iskender wore Anastasia's ribbon on his wrist, right? 😍
It's pronounced cor' I think, not corp
9:11 is that guy from Hercai?
Yes

Graz is a city in Austria , so they must be Germans but their names are Slavic , are they some Slovenes living in Austira ?
Need to get the title right, its Corps! lol
Name of movie
Series kosem sultan
Lol I thought that dude in the thumbnail was Marcus Luttrell for a minute.
The Turks are organised and disciplined
Were*
They weren’t Turkish the janissays were mostly Greek boys
@@theemperor3557 Slavs*
Janisarry were from: Balkan Africa middle east and some Turks.
@@MrPixel2000s mostly Balkan and a few Turks. I don’t think they took any Africans if middle easterners
just like German villagers had given their boys to Rome, same system
Anatolians were Romans too, we called ourselves Rum (Roman) before Turks, we learned this tradition from Rome.
@@maiorproposita9957 i know, i am Turk😄
Mayoryty of them was (Albanian Bosniak) and serbs
They look rather old for conscripts in the Janniseries
roustam azaaza
It should be corps not corpse,as corpse means dead body.
Nader said, "Do marde Khorasan do sad marde rum which means 2 khorasani soldiers are enough and equal to two hundred man from rum
Afghanistan are strong but they're never use their full potential due to tribalism, after Nader Shah died the Hotaki Rise
I understand not using armor once they started using guns but why were they not armored before?
They were :) - It's just a show - Ofcourse they were armored and wore protective gear during the wars. And to be fair. A Janissarry didn't need armor :D
@@AtillaAtesOfficial Just being curious. Because they were feared even before the use of firearms so just wondering how they looked during medieval times
The janissaries relied on speed, agility, movement. heavy armour would slow their effectiveness. That's why they used light armor.
They had gun in those times?
Yes. Guns were already used in Europe in 15th century.
The jannissries were the first infantry unit equipped with firearms! Since 1390s
Ok
But never didnt show how Murat 1. died 1389.
Sultan Murati was stabbed by a Serb named Milos.
Milos, who pretended to be injured, was brought before the Sultan by the soldiers, saying "I have something very important to tell Sultan Murad." Milos quickly took out the dagger he was hiding in his body and stabbed it into the Sultan's heart.
He was circumcised. And honoured by the light of Islam.
😅
Better than honored by christianity😊
true but we dont make fun of your religion eventhou we know almost everything in christianity is ordered to suit elites needs😂 also im sure you have no clue but jesus is not his real name it was translate to greek hail zues or something like that zues was translated to greek from summerian anyhow hailzues translated to latin and became jesus also jesus want christian nor sent to teach christianity in fact so called christianity didnt start until after his death 300-350 yrs later if you do lil research about ur hoax religion you will see that storties or gospels all are similar with pagan egyptian kings and queens so my friend before you make dumb remarks about my religion go learn ur own religion then compare to Islam but again there are lots of dumb ppl in this planet very sad😅
This is Turkey trying to display regional supremacy!

They were mostly Bosnians,a sultan mentioned that as he visited Bosnia,he was impressed by the Physical build of Bosnians because they are naturally verry tall and strong,in comparisson of the ottoman troops that are geneticly short as man.
What I am uzbek and some turics are tall and strong I mean north turic people
@@giyosbekashirboyev7123 some of them but im telling that in bosnia is a height for men 185cm a normal height and for turks 173-175cm average
Actually the janissays were entirely boys taken from Christian families. Bosnians are mostly Muslim so they were required to Jon. Honestly they couldn’t join.
@@theemperor3557 Bosnians are Christians,as the Ottomans came to the balkan they brought Islam with it.
@@bennieGmotion well if they converted they wouldn’t be able to join the janissary corps.

This is kinda wrong future Janissaries were raised in Turkish families where they were adopted young and little, and then they were taught Turkish and accepted Islam. Turkish names were given to them when they were kids, not when they are adults already, because it doesn't make sense
Corpse …. Hahahaha
