I’ve been listening to Maxwell for over 20 years now. It sounds just as great today as it did when I was young.
Early life
Maxwell was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of a Haitian mother and a Puerto Rican father. His mother grew up in a devout Baptist household in Haiti.[12][13][14] Maxwell's father died in a plane crash when Maxwell was three years old.[15] Maxwell grew up in the Brooklyn neighborhood of East New York.[16]

Back in 1996/1997, I was a manager of the Gap in Houston's Galleria. One of the perks of working there was we got to hear some of the newest and freshest tracks out there. I remember working one day and we got in the new Muzak tape and this song was on it (along with Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve). I had never hear either, but made it a point to find out by looking at the track list and immediately went out and bought them both that night after work. Good times!

Maxwell is da man! I wish he were more consistent with putting out.music. This song is a whole mood, If it don't make you feel something I feel terribly sorry for you. Well, I think you’ve already listened to Woman’s Work? If you have, then you would know how he sings so high, because he’s clearly comfy in falsetto range. He also does it in Pretty Wings, which has a great mixture of his natural range as well as his falsetto. Want to suggest, Bad Habits, which is an amazing instrumental groove with a vocal & video telling a twisted story. Video features a famous actress. 😉
