I’ve been critical of Payton Thorne, and rightfully so, but he and the coaching staff have improved. As for the fans, we’re doing the same thing we did with the last quarterbacks: criticizing them for everything.
Clark Lea is in year 4, but I agree with the point that Freeze is underperforming by a mile- doing less with more, as Cam said It's a nice idea to give a coach 3-4 years, but that's assuming there's improvement. It was also more applicable *before* the portal became such a quick factor. We've regressed significantly on the field even though the roster is better. He's an excellent recruiter, but has a poor track record on the field- they should've seen the red flag when he was begging for the Auburn job
@@vilheard3030 Yes, but also inherited guys like Jarquez, Eugene Asante, Damari Alston, Jay Fair, Rivaldo Fairweather, Ja'Varrius Johnson, Jaylin Simpson, Derrick Hall, Robby Ashford, etc. (although Freeze doubled down on Thorne and let Robby walk). Then add this batch of star receivers, the additions of veterans like Jalen McLeod and Jerrin Thompson on defense, the competent o-line, etc. There should 100% be improvement on the field by now- we certainly shouldn't have regressed. I watched redshirt freshman Robby Ashford with less support put up 350 yards on multiple SEC defenses, and then dice up Alabama- now Thorne can throw for 140 and 0 INT's and we say it was a good QB day, relatively. This team is immensely more talented, but the offense has still regressed

There's an array of things that caused the offense to regress . Auburn has a different coaching staff than last year in some departments. The SEC is loaded from top to bottom this year, including multiple teams with good defenses. Cadillac and Philip Montgomery played a part in the running game last year. Auburn leaned on the running game last year because of the lack of receivers. Auburn leans more towards the passing attack this year because of the addition of the new WRs and Freeze offense seems like it's a pass first offense, as if the rushing attack wasn't effective last year . Robby Ashford also played a critical role in Auburn's rushing attack last year. I think that coaching is the reason Auburn offense regressed. Auburn's rushing attack couldn't be stopped last year, you have the same backs and they have gotten a lot better, and you mean to tell me that they're barely utilized?? That's complete bullshit on the coach part.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that auburn still has no chance beating Bama even though vandy ran through them.... shoot auburn doesn't have a chance at beating vandy... 😂
I really thought this was the guy that would get y’all back to where you could be. Boy was I wrong. We remember him for one thing, beating Bama at Ole Miss. Had himself a nice team then.

Not gonna lie I'm disappointed in Hugh freeze...but we can all admit 24 freshman playing vs GA is insane...I think another 12 to 16 were sophomores
