Really thoughtful assessment of an all-around great design. My thoughts are very similar, though I personally loved the Spydiechef’s look from the first time I saw it and still do. It’s nice to revisit this review after having mine for almost a year; it makes me appreciate how special the knife is.
I would’ve liked a steel insert in the RIL like the Military Ti, but I still think I’m gonna pull the trigger on one. I’m a sucker for Ti scales and a nice blade shape. Great review bro👍
Hello good!! I love this knife, although I have read that it is not suitable for wood… not that I want it for carving… what I wonder is if it is suitable for everyday use, regardless of what you want to cut… warm regards from Spain! !
This knife needs to be a comp or BB lock... I love it except for the POS frame-lock/slippery, garbage meal scales. I'd absolutely buy one if this knife was in micarta and K390, Rex45, M4 or even Cru-Wear. 40+ years hunting and rafting as well as living in the wet PNW and I've NEVER had a 1095 knife rust on me to any serious degree. Corrosion resistance in a pocket knife is one of the most overrated and over hyped factors unless you _literally_ live and work on/in the ocean.
Quick question: have you had any problems with the tip of the blade coming into contact with the last/lowest standoff? I dropped mine from maybe 2 feet above wood floor, and it put a big semicircular dent/roll near the tip of the blade, maybe half a centimeter from the tip smh just wondering if anyones had that issue. I don't even want to carry it atm cause I don't want to keep having to sharpen that out
@@beardedgear for sure, just checking! Yeah, really. It was closed when I dropped it, so I thought it was totally fine considering there wasn't a scratch on the outside...nope!😭
I love it so much I bought a second one. Lc200n, titanium with perfect ergos.. this goes for 260. A Chris Reeve goes for 650 and isn't that great. Medford knives are really not that great. This keeps that Glesser attitude "made for the hands, not for your eyes."
I always enjoy your reviews. Concise and thoughtful evaluations of blades. Plus, you're a Spyderco fan! 👍

I chose this knife for the aesthetics. I think it looks so cool and unique without trying too hard to look tacticool like many other brands

Liked it so much I bought it twice! The original CQI & the Blue Ti version.
awesome review - just ordered mine after long research and a lot of thinking. lost my mini-grip last month. will see if that is a worthy replacement.

Haven’t had that issue at all, that’s a bummer!

Ha, “not that great” is quite the understatement for how crude Medford’s knives are. 😁
