    Ceramic Wool seems like such a wonder material, both for insulation and fire lighting. Similar in properties as Carbon / graphite matting. Cheers.

    Good for emergencies but not to save money over £5 for 1 ltr depending how much you buy in one go... For 2-4hrs... For 3hrs with my central heating is about £1.74

    BTW, thank you cayrex2 for posting this info 👍; this may help some people keep warm this winter.

    • @thegeordieweatherman8460
      @thegeordieweatherman8460 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on how big you want your flame. A large flame, from a big surface area will burn the fuel really fast.
      I make mine from 28mm copper pipe.
      For decorative purposes, I only cut out 15mm down the centre. For heat, a little bit more.
      I get my copper free from ex colleagues. That's only why I use it.

    Can you use indoors ie are the fumes safe ?

    • @BrentTheGent1
      @BrentTheGent1 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Ethanol is fine to burn indoors but make sure to use the same type of Ceramic Wool if making this type as if you were to use " oasis " plant blocks the design of burner is a little more complicated.

    I'm wondering does the can ever get hot to touch? Is it dangerous to set on a table?

    • @cayrex
      @cayrex  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @GEOsustainable
      @GEOsustainable 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cayrex Yikes, that is a very dangerous way to check. It almost sounds like put plastic down and in a few hours if your house is still there, it did not get too hot.

    • @missreynolds3637

      From my research they're clean burning fuel. You can burn inside but I'd set on a paver stone on a table away from kids and pets. Ventilate the area just the same, as well as a carbon monoxide detector just in case. They're shown on YT as bio fuel fireplaces or diy bio fuel fireplaces. Never refill with fluid when hot though accident waiting to happen. Always snuff out (deprive flame of oxygen) to put out flame. Let cool completely before adding more fuel.

  • @William_Hada
    @William_Hada 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice! I'm guessing that you can also use methanol also for fuel?

    • @cayrex
      @cayrex  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes,.... but ethanol more common to use in fireplace

    • @GEOsustainable
      @GEOsustainable 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There is a huge difference between the 2 alcohols. Stick with Ethanol as it does not need venting. Methanol is far too volatile for this application.

    • @cayrex
      @cayrex  2 ปีที่แล้ว
