    Who is into the camping life and where is your favorite spots to camp? I am looking to do more camping so any recommendations on locations and gear would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! 😁

      Best spot if you're lucky enough to get it is lakeside on Gull lake. It's FF and there's only like 5 spots lakeside so peak season and weekends are not recommended but you never know. There's nothing like waking up and essentially having your own shore to fish from. Bring a float tube and you'll never want to leave. Can't compete a loop without catching limitS. Bonus catch Sacramento perch. The only thing they don't have are showers but you can go next door to June lake for that. Gl you won't regret it.

      As for the gear I'm a backpacker so I have all the lightweight gear, etc. but when you have the luxury of driving to your site there's nothing like comfort. Bring the biggest tent you can get away with preferably one with vertical walls, an air mattress instead of a sleeping pad, and a portable heater. There's nothing like being able to stand anywhere in your tent and walk around mostly upright. Sleeping pads are nice but nothing compared to an air mattress. A good heater will allow you to sleep comfortably without having to be all wrapped up like a mummy to stay warm. Oh and bring a good chair. You'll never look back lol.

    I have gone camping al's l my life in all types of ways from tent when I was younger, to van, to camper on a truck, and trailers. We have a 24ft self contained trailer now. I have been camping all over the Sierras since I was 6yrs old. Love all the lakes, streams and rivers there. Favorites are Benton's Crossing on the Owens river, and the Bridgport area. Love all your videos in the places I have camped and fished.

      Thank you for always watching our videos. I’m still new to camping but so far on this last trip it was really enjoyable. I definitely want to get out to the sierras to do some camping. Love it out there. I will have to look into those areas you mentioned. I will be heading back out to the sierras soon to do more hiking. Really excited about that. How often do you visit the sierras? I hope I can make it out there at least a couple more times.

    Nice vid. and catches as well, is that a Kencor rod your using on your bait and wait? Noticed in your comments you are gonna try fly fishing stillwaters, taking the tube is definitely the way to go. If you don't mind a suggestion for fly line, you probably have a wf floating line on your combo, which I generally use for suspending midges over an indicator or long leader which I rarely do anymore, 90 percent of the time I use either a seven foot intermediate sink tip or a clear or camo intermediate line which sinks at approx. 1 1/2 to 2 inches per second. hope that helps you out, if you have any questions hit me up. Stay safe, tight lines.

    • @ExploreNaturesCatch
      @ExploreNaturesCatch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Gene! Yes it’s a 7ft kencor rod that I’ve had for over 20 years. I actually do want to get into fly fishing and I’ve been looking around for a rod/reel to start off with. I Haven’t decided which one yet, I’m a little clueless on fly fishing. I appreciate all the information, every bit of knowledge is greatly appreciated! What fly rod and reel combo (brand etc) do you use most often? Thanks again for the information!

      @@ExploreNaturesCatch Beautiful rod, have three that were my dad's haven't used since he passed in 97' those were his go to rods in the sierra's, would feel terrible if something happened to one, but he would probably tell me to use and enjoy them. The three rods I use the most Orvis Helios II 9' 5wt(stolen at gunpoint, gotta get another one), Sage Access 9'5wt, and my go to right now Fenwick Aetos 10' 5wt. very reasonably priced (warranty not as good as the other rods, but for the price I purchased an extra one). Nice feel, castability, extra length helps on the float tube. Hope that helps? anything else let me know, don't know alot but I can get you in the game.

      @ExploreNaturesCatch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@genesato9689 I've contemplated retiring the rod as well since they do not make it anymore. I still do go back and forth on bringing it out till this day. Your Kencors definitely do hold more sentimental value, I would probably feel the same as you. There are some messed up people in this world stealing peoples stuff especially at gunpoint. Glad you are okay. I've been seeing a lot of posts throughout the years of theft of fishing gear from vehicles and fishing stores. Thanks for the information on the fishing gear, i'll check those out. All info/tips no matter what it's about is welcomed! Thanks again Gene.
