    I’m having a hard time understanding why people hate on assisted knives so much, but don’t seem to mind OTS automatics. One uses a button to deploy, the other a tab. I don’t see a lot of difference. I’ve owned many of both, and other than legally speaking ( many places allow assist, but ban autos) they both do the same thing.

    • @joshjordan7859
      @joshjordan7859 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. I really like autos mainly for the ease of deployment but here in PA they’re illegal to carry but assisted knives are fine. Been carrying my m390 link for a while and the 0357 just seems like a slight upgrade I might have to jump on.

      Cheap knives use assisted opening to mask what would be poor action if it were manual.

    • @metal_complex
      @metal_complex  4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Um... no. Both ZT and Kershaw are plenty capable of making a manual flipper. They could have made this manual if they chose to.

    • @adamtimmins3035
      @adamtimmins3035 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@metal_complex that's exactly the point. Zt can make a great manual flipper, so it's a let down they cheaped out with assisted.

    • @buckshot1955

      @@adamtimmins3035 “cheap knives” use it it to cover a poor action. Is this a cheap knife? It seems to me, making it assisted would be an increase in production costs. The question was why do people hate on assisted knives? They like automatics, but not semiautomatics. Why?
      It’s a dependable system. If I’m not mistaken it is a Ken Onion design that Kershaw and ZT use.

    *_As much as people hate the assisted aspect of this knife.. I have looked past this, and will say that this has been an absolute pleasure to throw into my rotation, carry and use over the last 2 years! I have legit fell in love with this knife, and it is all because of its blade shape! (Damn near perfect for allllll things EDC!)_*
    *_This is truly an underrated piece for being USA Made, and under 200 dollars!_*

  • @Greg_M308
    @Greg_M308 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I like assisted knives generally speaking. I can still close it one handed (perhaps because of my XL hands). I really like the quick, easy and dependable deployment... With an assisted flipper, when I need that blade to come out, it will come out. Even in a stressfully situation with my attention elsewhere. That's what I like.

    Nice review. I’m diggin it. I do love my 20cv Bareknuckle. But I also love my assisted ZT 0770. It’s a great beater ZT that’s isn’t a $300 blade. So ill be adding it to my ZT collection.

  • @northernninety7

    Really cool knife but I feel like if you want an assisted 20cv knife, the Kershaw Link in 20cv with od aluminum handles is hard to beat at $80.

    Great review of this ZT. It’s even in the higher price range I could swing... the issue sis the assist. I would probably go for The Freek for a knife that would probably fit my hand better and definitely has a better fidget factor. The ZT 0562 is still on the top of my dream list. Thanks for the detailed info.

    They are nuts they are like the 350 or the 230 they are pressed into the scale. They got ridges on the pressed side so they don't move.kind of a pain in the ass to remove if doing a scale replacement

    good vid, I do feel it was a bit biased not much but a bit. I got my 0357 for $100 and love it I did own the Link the one with the same metal and never cared for it the second I held it I know it would not work for me. Oh my 0357 was new and was normal price but I had received an Amazon gift card for $50 that being said I would love the knife just as much even if I had paid full price.

      @@metal_complex BTW, I bought one and there is no confusing this with the Link in person. It's build like a ZT0350; as if a Kershaw Link and a ZT0350 had a baby.

    Nobody says anything bad about the Ritter , cuz it’s a great knife. The zt looks like a link that costs $165 especially since the 20 cv link is less than $100

  • @american1911

    I wish ZT would harden the 20CV to 61. Instead 57-59 means we are getting a relatively soft HRC 57+ blade.

    I love the blade shape and design. But….. unfortunately I can’t carry it for more then a few hours because the blade will start developing surface rust. Never had experienced this, not even with a Walmart $10 folder.

    Have you ever seen a knife company reduce their price on a newer knife? Just curious if you have. I can’t say I have but I’m not around it all as much as you are. I’m sure I’m wrong about it but I would love to see that happening.

    • @metal_complex
      @metal_complex  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does happen every now and then. Usually only when a model is going to be discontinued, but sometimes if it just doesnt sell well, it happens.

    • @Stahlwerk88
      @Stahlwerk88 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ZT’s definitely get a bit cheaper once they’ve been discontinued, but I doubt they’re looking to knock the price of this one down just yet.

    I see where some people really like an assist. But if they could make this model to have a manual option at that price point with M390. With ZTs awesome manual action it could be a gateway knife for higher end pieces.

    • @Stahlwerk88
      @Stahlwerk88 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is their attempt to get Kershaw fans who already love Speedsafe to step up to ZT and start really spending their money...

  • @wOrdTHANATOS
    @wOrdTHANATOS 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I also don't get why they can't do recessed pocket clip screws or put them on the inside of the knife. That's why the 562 will allways be the best ZT IMO besides the obvious. I know if you bend the clip it's a pain in the ass to take the knife apart to bend it back. But still is such an amazing design element that needs to carry over to there other knifes.
