This video serves as a guide to the very earliest horror short films from the 1890s. I discuss films from France, the UK, the US, and Japan, including the famous cinema pioneer Georges Méliès.
You can watch a similar video I made on the earliest sci-fi here:

A guide about Mexican film would be interesting.
I'm definitely considering that eventually!

It's interesting how camera placement was static in very early films - like they viewed the camera as an audience member of a stage play and probably couldn't fathom an alternative storytelling method
Jesus was not killed nor Jesus was crucified

Interesting how theater influenced cinema

Thanks for the video. I'd like to recommend another Méliès movie from 1905 which I think is his first non-comedic horror film: "Faust in the Underworld". Another one of his many masterpieces. Keep up the good work, man!
Good research 👍🏾👍🏾

Let’s go 🍿
Hello, could you please make a video on czech/czechoslovak movies? Some of them were quite influential (Czech New Wave), although maybe not so obviously, but directors across the world learned a from them. Also czech animation is worth mentioning. Or movies like Lemonade Joe, Baron Prášil, Spalovač mrtvol (The Cremator), Morgiana, Panna a netvor, Čarodějův učeň and so many more - all of them are interesting in my opinion
Yes, I was actually thinking about doing something like that in the near future. I’m researching Hungarian animation now, but maybe Czechoslovak animation after that.
